speaker recommendations

I'd like to get rid of my sub and amp combo and just settle for really nice speakers. I'd like to be able to output some "better than average" bass as well as have excellent sound quality.

I have a 6 speaker protege5 so any recommendations would be very helpful. thanks.

You do realize that "excellent sound quality" and "really nice speakers" is highly subjective, don't you?

Will you be replacing all the speakers?

Who will be doing the install?

What is your budget...for speakers? amps? subs? install work if needed?

What type of sound do you like?

And on and on...

With 6 speakers, using a crossover of some type, you could try and get lower bass frequencies to play just from your rears. Not sure what your current set up is atm though....like FoxPro5 indicates, more information would be needed to make any meaningful suggestions.

As for "better that average" bass, "really nice" and "sound quality", you might want to have a look at the Focal KP series. They play fairly low, and I think the SQ is pretty good, though it does take some tweaking. If you're not prepared to do some modifying and install stuff, it may not be a good choice for your purposes.

And I guess I'll be the first of many on here that will tell you to get test disc of familiar music, and just listen to everything in your price range that you can. Let your own listening preferences make the choice. That's all that matters in the end.

right now i have stock speakers plus a 10" kenwood sub and a rockford monoblock amp

i'd like to get rid of the sub and amp combo since I want to strip the trunk for autox purposes.

My budget...600-900 bux for speakers. and install on top of that if need be.

You could always just remove the subwoofer and box before you go to an autox meet.

rainbow slc's sound nice and won't break the budget only about 300-330

I have an Alpine HU with a V-power 4 channel amp running to MB Quart 5x7 and 6x9's, the speakers sound really good once their tweeked. If you can find the old school ones, they are great! The new MB's are manufactured in the US and not Germany and the quality isn't good so def find the german ones - it ran me $200 bucks for the speakers.

I just want to get rid of the sub and box altogether. Kind of getting tired of the thumpin and pounding. Just want speakers. Thanks for all the suggestions.
