How to remove accent in grille?

I want to remove the accent so I can vinyl it but how do I access it to remove it? Any guides or instructions?

Totally not worth the effort if I remember correctly. If you can’t see the screws holding it to the grill from the backside (via the engine compartment), you have to remove the whole GD bumper from the front of the car.

Definitely not worth it.

2021 CX five signature was hit with less than 100 miles on it and it necessitated removing bumper, fender and assorted front pieces in the body shop. The emails I received from the Mazda connect, were entertaining for sure as all the system started to malfunction as things were disconnected. You

After all the bodywork, the body shop had to take the car to the dealer so all the safety systems could be recalibrated.

The Akera G35 is turbo but the piece is black. Haven’t check the other models but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the same with the rest of the line up for manufacturing purposes.

I can confirm my 23 Turbo is actually a black piece painted red from the factory.

I found a Reddit post where a user took the vinyl wrap and just shoved it into the nooks and crannies with a non marring tool.

I think this is how I’m going to go about it, would love to get the whole piece out and vinyl wrap the whole piece in one sheet but it looks like access is very difficult

I think if you open the hood you can probably remove the inside trim and get to it..If you look behind the grill you can see the horn.. there are some push pins and rivets holding the trim just pop those and you should be able to get to the screws from the top..it almost looks like you could get to them from underneath as well if you remove the panel from underneath..I used a little mirror and could see the screws so I bet it would be fairly easy once you kind of see how it is held in place.

You might be right, I honestly can’t remember when I was replacing my grill when it got shattered by a giant rock. The top trim comes off easy enough, but you’ll probably need a right angle screw driver to go after the screws on the rear of the accent.

also if the M emblem pops off which I can't remember if it does or not there would be plenty of room to reach through the hole in the grill and remove it..I should have saved that piece when I hit the bear and destroyed my grill..

@jadmt @ruthrj do you have a photo that could help explain?
I took a look in my engine bay this morning, but I’m still skeptical. I don’t think all of the screws will be exposed. I think you can get one screw out but I think another screw is covered by another piece of trim attached to the car. That’s what makes me think the bumper still has to come off, but taking the plastic trim out of the engine bay is easy enough to confirm if this is true or not.

The emblem slides rearward out of the grill. Might be trim on the car blocking this rearward movement too (same stuff that I believe is blocking another screw).
