Spark plug dilemma (2014 CX-5)

Motorhead Japan has PE5R-18-110 for $16.62

Shipping is usually pretty cheap if you go the Postal Service Ordinary. This can take a couple weeks to receive so don't expect Amazon next day.

The exchange rate between USD and JPY is now definitely in favor of USD. One more benefit is the spark plug most likely is made in Japan. With recent scandals from ALL major Japanese car manufactures I don’t know if this much cheaper Mazda OEM spark plug is counterfeit or not even from Japanese sellers.

I've never had a reason to doubt the legitimacy of their parts. I often order parts from them for my GX 460 (parts shared with LC Prado) or my G35x (V36 - Skyline). They won't sell parts for vehicles not also specifically sold in Japan so I could not get parts that were not shared between JDM vehicle and a model or brand not sold in the home market. The GX 460 and Infiniti G35 were not sold new in Japan under that branding.

Good to know. So this Motorhead Japan can be my parts source when I can plan ahead getting some Mazda parts. I wonder how much the partsouq.com will sell for Mazda
PE5R-18-110 plug?

Wasn't sure if to start a new thread or add to this.
I just did a plug change on my 2014, 2.5L with 165,000 kms. It still ran fine but figured it was time. Seems to be several opinions on this so here's what I did.

The dealer wanted $72 per plug but was going to give me a deal down to $60 ($240).
Then searched around and found several local auto stores that sell the NGK's supplied directly from NGK................ ILKAR7L11 (94124) for $21 each. ($84)

Been driving for the last few weeks and everything works as it should. Same performance and mpg.
The only question I have is what is the gap supposed to be?? I looked through my 1000 page manual and can't find anything. This forum says 0.0414 - 0.0452.
The weird part is the original OEM plugs that were removed are at .042, still in spec. Isn't it weird that after 10 years and 165,000 there is no wear??

Spark plugs with platinum and irridium electrodes last almost forever, the metal doesn't seem to corrode much at all.

I changed mine at ~105k miles, so almost exactly the same as yours. Mine looked completely fine as well. Zero difference in performance or fuel economy after the change.

I changed mine out at 71K miles with those same NGK's and found the same thing. Ran fine with old plugs. Old plugs looked good and still gapped correctly. However, with the new one's there was a noticeable difference. Smoother idle and stronger pullout when accelerating. Maybe tiny increase in mpg.
