how much is it to install a sound system...meaning i have everything jus not set up ..... i have a deck a indash kit amp and sub and wires....what is the average price

all the head unit wires are label on the wire. lf = left front lr = left rear ect. and the hardest part of running your power wire is finding a spot to go through the firewall. remote and power wire go on one side of the car and the rcas go on the opposite side. its set up that way to reduce road noise as much as possible. your gournd bolts to any surface in the trunk. its best to sand off the paint to get a good surface for grounding. thats really all you need to know.

To install everything correctly is not an easy chore. However, once you get a price quote from a shop on installing everything you will see why many people do it themselves. The hardest part is paying attention to details and knowing what to do each step of the way. There are many resources on the internet for this. Start by searching google for things like "howto install head unit" or "howto install car amplifier". You'll come up with some decent results. Once you do a little research on your own, come back here and we can answer any additional questions you might have such as what guage wire to use and the best place to run the power wire through the firewall.

You'll be much happier if you install it yourself. You will learn a lot more by doing that so when something happens you know where to go. Another hard part on certain cars is getting the old head unit out. If you have that issue just go to a Circuit City or Best Buy and tell them to pop out the old deck. I've had it done for around 15 dollars and save a lot of time. Just take your time and everything will work out

You'll probably spend about $80-$100 getting a headunit and amp installed at a shop.

average labor prices are 45 for the radio and 60 for the amp and box... places like best buy and circuit city charge you to even install the woofers in the box and charge you for every foot of wire (why? i dont know)... most stereo shops charge a set price for the shop supplies( average is like 10) and dont even charge to load the woofers in the box... if you get someone to install the the equipment, make sure they run a ground wire from the radio to the same spot to where the amp is grounded at... it helps reduce noise and ground loop...

its really not that hard to install it yourself.... i've done plenty.....the deck is easy cuz all the wires are color coded with the harness wires....(most of time at least) and if there not....read the writing on the wires. The Amp is just plugging RCA's and a remote wire into the back of the deck and running it to the amp....then running a power wire from the battery to the amp....then a ground wire from any metal part on your car to the amp. then running the speaker wires from the amp to the subs.....takes an hour or two at most.
My 91 protege took about 1.5 hours and that has the oldest wire setup so if its a newer protege it will be way easier.

I had a 90 protege w/ a damn good stereo in it. I miss that car. 1.8liter DOHC was a strong engine. What I put that little car through. HAH
