Should I trade in my Protege 5 for a MSP?

Re: Should I?

Nope. There was a wrecked black one as well for $7400 CDN. The one I saw was pictured in the dealership lot.

It's not on the autotrader.ca site anymore.....but I saw it!

pull the trigger on the MSP pro5. There are crazy deals to be had on yellow's in Toronto as well. Brampton Mazda apparently had 2 or 3 for well under sticker.
And to the American guys here, the Evo didn't make it to Canada. The STI sells for $45 K Canadian (approx). The MSRP on the MSP was $27 K. 2 different animals.
Cheers!

Should I? Yup!

I checked with an organization here in Canada to see what the dealership actually pays for (dealer invoice) the Mazdaspeed's.......

They pay $25,575. I know the dealership wants $26,500 incl. the $2000 rebate so I might just do it if the amount they are willing to give me for my Protege 5 is around the $20,000 mark like they said.

The Subaru WRX and STi versions are priced at $36,000 and $48,500 here in Edmonton for those U.S. guys that recommend getting either of which.....Even the Civic SIR (Civic SI in the U.S.) is $26,000 CDN.

thanks Pro5 for the website.

I just realised autotrader.ca sends me to hebdo.net which is 1 of the website i looked at (just like occasion.ca ). I don't know if they are french-only websites but anyway, i saw a few MSPs on there, but the truth is, i'd like to get it from the same dealership i got the P5 from, if possible.

I will give a call to the dealerships advertising on autotrader and see what they're offering. Thanks for the info guys.

ok i did it. Just signed the papers and i should take delivery next week.

Here are the details: (check www.xe.com to convert money if you're wondering how much it makes in USD)

2003 Protege5, 32000km (not miles) with A/C and moonroof. The guy was asking me "what do you need to sign tonight ?" and he ended up giving me 19000$(tx incl) for it (i still have 14000 to pay, so thats 5000$ in my pockets). I whined a bit and talked some more and ended up receiving 1500$ more for my car. So he basically gave me 20500$ for a 32000km 2003 Protege5 ... ???

With the 1st price he gave me for my car (19000), it ended up being 416$ / month for the MSP, compared to my current 694$ / month for the P5 (36 months financing for the P5, 60 months for the MSP). After i cried a bit, he lowered that to 390$ / month .... so i'm paying, tax included, a little bit less than 28000$ (with 5.9% financing).

Is it just me or i got i GREAT deal ? I think 20500$ for my used P5 is WAYYYY more than its worth. Every other dealership gave me 15000$ for it. I also just saw one for sale on the net, 2003 P5 with 1700km for 21700$(tx incl).

So, i sold my P5 with 32000km for 20500$, and this other dealership is selling one with 1700km on it for 21700 ... did i forget to pay attention to something or i'm just lucky ?

by the way, i started thinking about doing this just so i could redo my financing and pay a car over 60months instead of 36

So what color did you end up getting?

Way to go Metal!

I am yet to hear back from my dealership but if they do give me $20,000 I'll be joining you!

well I spent a couple hours at a dealership last night looking at an MSP but concluded that, even with rebates and decent trade value (about 9000 with 12500 owed) I was too far upside-down in my loan right now for it to make sense, plus my current loan is 0% for 60, and I'd have to finance that at a considerably higher rate (around 5-6%)

guess I'm keepin my N/A baby for atleast another year (yes)

Nate, what makes it a good deal for me, i think, is that since i financed my car over 36 months, i have bigger payments (i owed 13800$ after 15 months) ... so for me, the deal looks good no matter how i look at it. I get good money for my car since its only 15 months old (+ the guy really gave me alot for it) and i get much lower payments ... so it woulda been stupid not to take it.

So i'm taking delivery next week. I can't wait hehehe

I loved it when i tested it even though the turbo wasn't pushing like it should (according to the sales guy, for warranty/test drive purposes, they lower the PSI).

Yea like they put a MBC on it

sounds like typical dealership bulls***

if it still doesn't pull right when you get it, take it back ;)

Should I?

Going to the dealership tomorrow to sign. The Dealer siad they will give me $20,000 for my car and my payments will go up by $30/mth. Good deal considering all the extra goodies such as stereo, wheels, engine, handling, and the like.....

I might have a Eibach Pro kit for sale.........

hehe, the sales guy from the dealership I was at on Thursday night just called me :D

I made the same offer I made on Thursday so I doubt they'll take it this time if they couldn't make it work on Thursday, but... who knows
