Shifting Problem

Stickman, I hope your right about this problem being with the transmission linkage!
Because pretty much ever since i've owned my car (1 yr now) I've had a terrible time shifting into 1st and 2nd sometimes...however during the winter months when it was really cold, it shifted so smoothly.. odd

Same issue w/ mine. OK in winter, terrible when it got hot spring summer.
1st pic (poor pic) is rear bushing. That's the one that was my problem. Front was fine.

Bushing I believe is plastic nylon. Trans shop just soaked w/ liquid wrench and wrenched it w/ long pipe for extra torque. Never had to replace the bushing; just free it up.
I now have it lubed regularly when the oil is changed.

I wouldn't be messing w/ a flame. Heat would probably destroy the existing bushing and could damage seal if used on bushing near trans.

I also changed the trans lube , 1st. Didn't help much. The bushing was the issue.

Good luck, let me know how it works

UPDATE! I noticed that my front calipers had stuck and one of them was causing the brakes to stick real good. After replacing them the shifting problem has subsided SUBSTANTIALLY. The only relation i can think of is that the clutch and brakes share the same fluid system...but who knows, maybe it just worked itself out!

2nd Update... amonth later, and having driven in the worst of the summer heat, the difficulty shifting is just about non-existent any more!

a little late, but yes, problem goes away 80% now, which is wayy better than nothing. Now noticing yet another f'in caliper is sticking and sure enough, problem slowly becoming more noticable on the hot days...no more junk yard calipers for me, going new this time...

Hi guys, its been a while since this post. Some updates is that. I finalized the problem, and it is being that, whenever i turn on my a/c for a while, the shifter gets stiffer. It is a lot better when its raining out side or when its cooler but when its like a hot summer day with the a/c on for a while it happens. I kinda got used to it now, but then I would still like to know the likely cause of that. Also, my clutch doesn't squeak, mounts are all pretty new, and under any other conditions other than hot and a/c on (main reason is having a/c on), the car is completely fine when shifting.

Bump, anybody find a reason why this is? I have the EXACT same problem with having the A/C on. The first two times in the new P5 I drove to my gf's place with the A/C on and experienced very hard shifting (temperature was mild not hot at all). The third time I had A/C off, the same route and it was completely fine!

I also took it for a long hard drive last night with A/C off and it shifted fine, so it seems like it's something to do with the A/C, but what? They are completely different systems and I don't see how it could affect shifting.

From other posts people say it occurs when it is hot outside, but perhaps it's because they have the A/C on that its hot and not because of the weather itself?

Ideas?
