Shadow102's RX7 NA build thread

awesome!

dunno why i didnt see this thread before. Your rx7 is in much better condition than mine.

your complaing about 160hp? im at a meager 144 lol. Im slowly fixing stuff on my car. interior needs to be pulled again to rethread the seat mounts. PO fubared them pretty good. he broke off one of the bolts in the mount, so i have to drill that one out and rethread all of the mounts.

lol it looks better than it is. lots of hail damage and my interior looks like crap due to all the leaks the roof had. i dont think there is any saving the carpet at this point for me

aside from the panels being old, my interior is in ok condition. i have T2 seats, and i think im only missing one kick panel. The dash is cracked, and missing the warning light surround. I plan on pulling and replacing the carpet and insulation.

finally got my air pump back in found the right bracket locally which helps out. The belt will be at mazda tomorrow so i can see if VDI makes much of a difference. And instead of having wedged open 5/6 ports the actuators will be going back on this weekend

I thought about a turbo swap but if I ever do a turbo rotary I am just going to buy a well sorted s5 tii and be ready to go out of the box. The vert is going to stay na and will eventually get ported for some more power.

either way, its one of the most fun cars to drive turbo or not...
even before i added the wheels, it was on rails, easy to kick the back end out for a little craziness but still fully controllable....

yeah the RB pre-silencer they dont make.. its just a GLASS PACK (turbo muffler really) with the flanges on them and after about 500 miles its loud again..

I will NEVER buy another pre-silencer again.. NEVER

Ok airpump is back in a running the car actually pulls now in the 7-8k rpm range now instead of weezing out.

The radiator is obviously back in and is not leaking at all. I took the oppertunity to switch the cooling system over to toyota long life red coolant have had a lot of good experience with it and its available for free to me. Unfortunatly the motor on the fiero fan is starting to have a bearing problem so I ordered a new one and should be here early next week.

Also ordered some generic rear pads since the back ones are about gone along with snagging a cheap set of rear stainless braided brake lines.

Car looks nice shadow!! Makes me motivated to get started rebuilding my RX7!!! Maybe next spring when I am hopefully done with the speed6...

Well after some busy weeks I got some progress yesterday. The rear pads, rear stainless lines, 5/6 actuatos, and breather filter for the airpump are all done.

New fan motor is sitting here ready to be installed, rb presilencer is on the way, new left tail light is in the mail.

Also have a new exhuast silencer in the mail because mine decided to jump out of the muffler on the way to work yesterday. That was a loud trip home.

Also have a bid ending sometime today on a s5 uim and lim so I can gasket match and port them a little. Gotta order some pineapple 5/6 inserts as well and get a s5 tb to port and remove some stuff from.

Good to hear everything is going well..

gasket matching on a n/a has been provin to give little gains (under 5hp) however a nice port/polish and hone job can get u a few extra number.

when modding the throttle body make sure that u dont remove the thermowax unless u dont mind having to hold the pedal down for a few mins to warm the car up.

I have a fully modded throttle body on my RE that I am using with no T-wax, no bac, no cold assist, no outter bflys etc. I like it that way but I'm just warning u lol..

congrats and keep us updated I want more pics!!!

Loud isn't the word lol. Nice project build man...it was nice to finally meet you and the gang. Can't wait to see where you are on your build the next time I come down there :)

a loud rotary is loud by our standards.. and UNCORKED rotary (like I ran last summer) is loud beyond our standards... 3" turbo back FTW!
