Replaced all four shocks/struts yesterday with the help of a friend. Small problem- he was doing the passenger side, and somehow managed to get the axle to separate in half (see pic). The rubber boot was off, and the end of the joint was exposed with the three wheel/bearing looking things poking out like "hello". NO IDEA how he managed to do it. I was doing driver's side when I heard "oh s***" and see grease dripping everywhere.
Anyways, now what? Do I need to replace the entire axle? Or can I repack with grease and slide it back on? I've replaced entire axles before, but NEVER had something like this happen. Somehow, the rubber boot just came off. I have a feeling he was pushing down too hard to get the strut out.....
