what kinda gasket is used to hold up the oil pan??? im thinking of taking mines off because it seems to be leaking from the bung so i wanna jb weld it, what kinda gasket or seal is there?? or just silicone... thanks

JB weld will not work

Well, I was reading a little lean on my A/F, so I decided it was time to install the Pierburg fuel pump. It's in! I now have over 700 Mi, and discovered something else. The EGR nut that tightens the tube to the manifold is not threading up. What this means is that my boost will be weak, and won't hold. That explains a lot of why my boost was feeling weak, and my idle was stumbling. I guess I will have to talk to Corky when I visit soon.

The A/F(although not that accurate because it is spliced into my stock O2 sensor) is the one from the J&S Dual Monitor, and the Boost gauge is the Cartech variety. I accually had a pending code in my PDA Dyno that was like a P0171...Lean, 1st O2 bank... It never put up a CEL, but it was a pending code.

A little lean, eh? What was your fuel pressure?

No good boost..

Well, I just went out for a test drive, and the Pierburg fuel pump keeps steady pressure up like a mofo. It was steady at 80 PSI when I would hit like 5-6 PSI of boost for a second. The bad news is that because the EGR tube is disconnected, I don't have any of the power I should when I cross the boost threshold. ******* sux!  :'(

guess we have another buyer!!!!!! the egr is the one were supposed to plug right?? just checking

kooldino would like this.
the egr if connected properly will DECREASE combustion temps. you should really have it connected to the system. but if your manifold does not have a thread for it maybe a good idea to recirculate it from under the car somewhere.
:)

Wow, this brings up an interesting point. My CEL code is P0401 "EGR Flow Insufficient". I of course have mine plugged. Is there anyway to fool the ECU with this one, or do I have to "re-attach it"? I of course have no idea how I'm gonna pull this one off?

the whole idea behing egr recirculation is to introduce hot inert gases into the combustion chamber. (less oxygen). so venting it from the atmoshphere will not be beneficial for emmisions but might get rid of your cel ;) (providing the additional air it receives has enough fuel to compensate)

Again, wideband O2 /= stock O2 sensor. They have nothing to do with each other.

I wonder if i'm getting this.

I can't be the only one that got this. All us Spool turbo's plugged our EGR pipes (I plugged the hole and removed the pipe, but same difference).

I moved my second O2 sensor to avoid that CEL, apparently that worked. Some good news or something, but I don't know what to do about "EGR Flow Insufficient". Damn.

sorry bud but the only thing i can tell you is to reroute it.
or live with the cel and hope it doesnt fault the system enough to go into limp mode

Well, time for another update:

I phucked around and changed my oil again today. I discovered a small tranny fluid leak thru the fill hole a couple of days ago, and decided to tighten the plug. I inspected for more leakage, and there was none, so I undid the fill plug, and topped it off, and tightened it back up. On the oil, I used Mobil 20W50 dino oil (again for the last time!). I will be going with 10W40 Redline Synthetic, or thicker next. I am at about 1050 miles now on the new engine. I still hear the pistons a just a little under load, but all seems well. My new EGR tube arrived today, and so did my Mazdaspeed oil cooler. I will be picking them up in the AM. Soon, it's off to San Antonio to get with the man himself (Corky Bell) to get my EGR/Manifold issues fixed. To kill many birds with one stone, I will probably fix my oil pan leak, and install the oil cooler as well. More to follow.

Well, I found out by driving, and getting some other codes about a fixed 1st bank circut, that the A/F side of the J&S dual monitor was causing my O2 sensor codes. I unpluged the connector going to my 1st O2 sensor, and have not gotten anymore of the O2 sensor codes. Just keep getting the usual P0421 code due to the EGR tube not being connected right. John, any thoughts on this?
