Return of the Turbo MP3!!!

So for those of us that live in places without winter the downside would be???
a thermosatat is MEANT to cause a certain NEEDED restriction in the system . along with the right radiator cap. that restriction in laymens terms will allow the coolant enough time in the radiator. while maintaining specified temps for the system to run efficiently
pressure and temperature go hand in hand for proper coolant system operation.

Guess what folks,

The Mazdaspeed thermostat works just like it should. I was just ignorant as to how to put in the coolant properly. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you follow the guidlines on the instruction page above that I posted. It could cost you a motor. I got really lucky! Thank you (bow)GOD!!!

what was ur problem when draining your coolant? your water pump didnt turn on??

Linux.....hate to say it but DON'T put 8 psi to it righ toff man......if anything maybe put 1psi to it.....get it broke in before you boost it. My buddy build his prelude motor and made the mistake of laying boost to it right off the bat and he basically screwed every oil seal in the motor....just a thought.

good idea, take it easy on this one. we dont want to see this happen to you again. Congrats on your engine rebuild im sure you learned a ton of stuff.

Right guys. Do you think I want to blow my motor so soon? I am ******* paranoid right now. Not used to the piston noise yet. (nervous) It hasn't seen boost yet at all. Thank for looking out though! (thumb)

lol, I love Beavis. That man is so damn creative....

Piston noise? What piston noise?

Way to go on the AWR mounts, Linux!! It's cool to feel the engine vibrations right on the steering wheel. Feel the power!!

The sound of forged pistons warming up.

And driving around. They quiet down a bit when the engine warms up, but before it does....BTW...I just changed my oil to 20W50. A little quieter. I probably should have went with SRP pistons with the 4032 low-expansion pistons. Both are made by JE. Here are the differences:

Pat, why do you wish you had gone for the SRP's? To cut back on the cold noise?

Not just cold noise...Driving noise. There is still a little noise when you are driving. That is due to greater clearances that the JE's need.

LINUX, what should we go with?? i mean, you think the srps are going to make a performance difference? or just the noise?? thanks man, im kinda iffy now on the je pistons.....damn

Well according to the JE website the SRP are more for suited for the street. You also have to remember it's about clearances too. Since my block did not get bored, we will see.... If you want you can ask Keith at FP about Wiseco's. He can get them.

SRP's are actually a step down in strength. Performance-wise they will not change horsepower, but merely make less noise. The SRP's are just not quiiiiiiite (imagine me sqeaking that out in a high voice) as resistant to shock, the "tensile strength" mentioned in the graphic pat posted.
