'02 Protege 5
Okay some of you may know me since I've been around a while, and some of you may not.

The reason I'm making this is because I just traded in my '99 Protege Se (Dx for all you americans) and purchased a 2002 Protege 5.

I Plan to update this as I complete every modification, with pictures, a brief outline, and If I like the mod or not.

I can't wait to get started. A few of my old mods from the Protege will still fit, including my seats, stereo and gauge rings. I can't wait.

April 13th: first things first

Well experience tells me that one of the most important things you can have on your car is an alarm. Money spent on an alarm is never waisted, so I went with the best, Viper:

I had my alarm installed this morning and it's all set, I love it. I will nto live without 2 way now.

Next up was the seats. When i had my Protege Se, I managed to aquire the Black Leather sport seats out of a 2003 Acura RSX. They are heated, with lumbar support, and oh so beautiful. The brackets were already custom welded on and ready to go in my other car, logic says they will fit right in mine !

I pulled out the stock seats and found exactly what i expected, the car prep guys only clean what you can see.

I shampoed the floormats, and the carpet, vacumed everything, and removed the floor mat holder bracket. The reason is as follows:

bad pic, I know, but look at how gross that is. I'll take care of that in the next few days, I don't want that rusty s*** on my car.

I can't get my stereo in the dash because it's only a single Din system, so against my better wishes I coughed up the dough and ordered the MSP luxury box and support bar set. I just hate that sosche ugly kit.

I also like having factory white face gauges, but I miss the blue of the reverse indiglos, oh well. (my old reverse indiglos are FS btw)

I pulled out my Dave B rings and went to work:

No, It's exam week and there is no way I could have found time to do that If I wanted it done first.

Fiberglassing starts tomorrow!

April 15th

Today i removed the rear dealership badging they put on there when I got it, and screwed the liscense plate down better. Later this week I'll be screwing the frame down better in anticipation of getting my new subs.

I sold my old ones yesterday, Just too damn big.

I can't decide whether or not I want to put the "Familia" Badge back on this Protege.

Was it a badge like the others already on the rear or is it stuck on like pinstripes?? I have one put on from the dealer like pinstripes and I was wondering how to take it off...

I explicitly told the sales rep when I bought my car, "If I see a dealership tag on the back of the car I will be talking to your manager about refunding my deposit....I am not paying $16,000 to be a moving advertisement."

Whatev, not worth my hastle took me about 30 seconds to get it off, and I was able to save my negotiating for more important things (like knocking 2500 of the lot price).

Back from the bars just now, up in 6 hours to start fiberglassing, weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee......

Update:

Well I made the fiberglass box fro teh left side.... or atleast attempted to. Everythign went well, it was all layed, looked beautiful, I went inside to let it dry, came back out, and it had collapsed in on itself adn hardened.

First I went WTF!!!!!!!
then i felt like slapping myself stupid for beign such a noob and layign 5 layers on a vertical panel, what an amateur mistake. I'll give er another go tomorrow.
