Project Black has Begun! - Colorado

I would never have guessed that any Mazdaspeed vehicle on the planet would match the STI. I would have thought maybe a standard WRX. That's impressive!

I love my Mazda...I'm just sayin I know it will never be considered a "fast" car no matter what I decide to do to it. Maybe the Mazdaspeed's are better than I thought...

right right, and i guess we can all learn to love that stupid "grin"/smile the new 3's have haha

Yeah I agree, the 07's were my favourite, and if the Mazdaspeed can match the STI I'd rather have the Mazdaspeed cause not many people around here have them, and I would love spanking the STI's, and seeing the look on there faces afterwards haha

I'm getting antsy here...I have had a full exhaust sitting in my garage for a couple weeks now. Just waiting for my buddy to get a truck out of his shop so I can get this installed!! ARGGG! (gah) Anyway, this week should be the week. I'll have the OBX, 2.5" catted midpipe, and 2.5" Megan cat back system up and running. I'll post pics and maybe a short vid as soon as I can.

There are more mazdas racing on any given day that any other make of car, anywhere. They might not be fast in a straight line but they sure are fun to drive.

Hells yeah! My Protege5 is a ton of fun to drive, and handles great. I haven't even done my suspension yet! Can't wait for that.

Ditto. And I'm getting all the suspension components in my sig below, on the car this Thursday. And probably changing the gearbox fluid also (Pennzoil Synchrotech).. then putting on the 06 Mazda3 Wheels (after I sandblast, and get em white, and change their shoes lol)

Very nice! I'll be going with a set of Illuminas with Tokico springs for a one inch drop. I'm exited about the adjustables!

Thanks! and nice, gl w it

cant wait till thursday now. I gotta pick up teh gearbox fluid and strut mount tomorrow

Showed Black some love today, so took some pics for the thread. Yes, they are photoshoped for color (and to hide the body flaws! LOL!).

Hells yeah!! Exhaust on the schedule for tomorrow evening! WOOT WOOT!!! (dance) <--this guy has my hair cut. LOL!

Well, here it is. It's a little ricey, but I left the tip silencer on it so it's not too bad.

The goods...

Test fit...

Only real issue was this metal line (not sure what it is, but definitely necessary), just took the header off hooked it up and bolted everything back down.

Header, Cat, and Megan installed. I never realized the size of the stock muffler JEEZE, it left a huge gaping hole underneath!!! LOL!

After the first test run, the header turned GOLD! Totally pimpin! LOL!

That pipe is the EGR pipe. Some people replace it with flexible stove gas lines. Looking good!

I had this exact same problem when I put mine on about a month ago, took me and a friend some interesting handy work to get it on, but I like the idea of stove gas line, do you have any examples of people using it? like as in pictures? Cause the nut on mine is only about 1/3 to half of the way threaded on, and I have kept on an eye on it, seems to be fine. And Black how does that set up sound? I am hoping exhaust is one of my next upgrades, just not sure what to go with.

Lookin Nicee!

Thats the same setup i want to run!

can you plz post a (quality) video of the exhaust ? id love to see a good video of it ideling, reving, driving (if it drones) and inside the cabin sounds..

and how much was it total? plus the install?

And again, NICE!

iamthewheelman and Taus - It's a definite gain, but the Megan is very ricey! There is some cabin drone on excelleration, but that is actaully not too bad once you are just cruising. Megan put a nice big resonator right under the cabin, so that actually helps a lot with the interior noise. I'll see if I can get a quality vid for you to listen to. I left the silencer on the tip, and it's still pretty ricey. I may end up just cutting the Megan muffler off and throwing something else on. For now, it's pretty fun.
