Problem with BOV

I wouldn't worry to much about boost. From experience (just tonight) I started running 9psi, I am using a 90 dollar turbo smart manual bleed style boost controoler. I made alot of full boost passes to get it dead on 9psi, everything worked properly every time. I work around proteges all day and would be able to tell if something was ****** up. The moral of the story is that it makes it go fast as sit, it's almost not fun cause you have to get out of it as soon as it gets good!

sorry man but im still lost on the other post and then we will get to the new one ok?
by the way dont get upset but are you stoned?:D

03 speed I would agree with you. I have a HKS SSQ and it's much louder w/9 PSI. It seems like it helps the car transfer from Hg to boost smoother, especially when you make the engine work faster/easier

dude you have to think about it. On a n/a car the intake temp makes a world of difference, we all know compressing air makes it hotter. The whole intake idea is to make the flow of the cleaned air smoother, everyone w/me. Want performance, I hear Apexi has a line of filters that actually increases hp, cause it flows smoother. That and a larger front mount ic and you are ready to throw as much boost as the engine can safely add fuel to and burn. Exhaust just speeds up the whole process.

this!!:D

RX- kevin, how do you have you HKS mounted in your car? Did you get a new hard pipe made that goes from the ic to the intake?

I used a piece of ic pipe from my 89 Turbo II, and ironically where the BOV was welded is a perfect fit and the hard pipe is a perfect bend I should really post pictures to show everyone, it just pisses me off cause I don't right now

how are you going to control the problem if you leave it on. the car would be running lean momentarily so i would not suggest it
Actually its the other way around. The airs not there for the fuel so it runs rich. You need to get an AFC or E-manage or Standalone to run it to atmoshpere right.

chris i was commenting on the fact he said he let off the throttle.
the ecu will shut the injectors off imediatly after it sees TPS voltage drop causing a lean condition . the same applies on initial throttle and boost.

Chris,

Your right buddy. You beat me to it. :)

Anyways,

When the air enters your MAF, the ECU sees X amount of air entering it, so it puts out Y amount of fuel. When you install a bov that vents, you now have X-Vented air amount of fuel so the car is richer. Next time you drive behind an eclipse or something that has a MAF, you will notice black smoke come out when they shift, thats cause the car is a little richer after teh shift.

The GReddy e-Manage and the Apexi - AFC has an off throttle feature that actually compensates for the BOV venting out.

rxkevin, wouldnt u say ur car looks a lil strange with an opening in the rear valence for an exhaust tip and there is none? im relatively pleased with my mazdaspeed muffler etc. so do u think it would sound a lot better if i got a new downpipe? if so, where can i get one and for how much?

hector on our particular ECU this is NOT RIGHT as i stated above
the mazda ecu shuts down the injectors once throttle voltage to the ecu is decreased to idle standards. now with bov operation in the MSP the fuel will only show a rich condition when recirculating.
again this is what i have found ONLY with mazda ECU
