Overheating?

I tried it this morning, but my question is, not sure if I had the right hose, but is the coolant supposed to come out of the hose, or out of the throttle body part. When I took that hose off, coolant shot out of the throttle body part, but never came out of the hose. I was doing this at the top of the throttle body, is that the right spot.

it is supposed to come out of the aluminum tube that houses the coolant temp sensor. that tube is the part that connects the upperhose to the radiator.
not by the throttle body. it is just the throttle body hose . it should come out of there not the hose.
the car needs to circulate the coolant and get all the air trapped in the system. i know you said you followed the instructions but you may need to do it again.
if it is the head gasket , the head is aluminum and would require resurfacing

I found the spot where to bleed the system, it did not work. My only guess is the head gasket. Should I replace the head gasket myself or have Mazda do it. I am pretty mechanically inclined, but have never removed a head before. I don't have to remove the camshafts do I? Maybe I should purchase a repair manual. What would be the best to get?

If its the gasket you may have to machine the head in some cases

ill agree with spool on this one, i worked in a machine shop for 2 years, any slight overheating with an aluminum cylinder head and that sucker is warped. You might have one of the two either being the head gasket, or a warped head, and i would say the head is going to have to be resurfaced either way if either of these are your problems. Which by the sounds of things it is.

to take the head off sometimes you have to take the cams out to get to the head bolts, the only way to know would be ask perf, spool or anyone that has had the valve cover off, i cant remember. I think on the FS2 you had to take the cams out to get to the bolts. The FS9 is almost identical to the FS2.

*superman narrarator guy* This looks like a job for Mazda, raper of all dummy's, They can empty a wallet in a single day!

I don't feel up to doing the job myself. Hopefully it won't cost over a grand, I just bought my wife a MPV, and spent most of my savings doing so. I have to leave enough to get a Microtech

You will have to remove the cams to reach the head bolts.

If you do it yourself it will be very cheap.

The head gasket will cost something around $36, if you are going to buy new head bolts (which is not needed if the specs are still the same) they cost around $7 each for a total of 10 bolts.

The job for machining the head is something around $40. And if you remove the intake manifold, the gasket is like $5 bucks.

You will need some silicone sealant, the torque wrench and other wrenches.

Ah...and the valve cover gasket...$12? cant remember...

Do the gasket your self. I'll save you money. If you can install a turbo kit you can do a head gasket. Just make sure you get the timing belt marked correctly and @ TDC

With a job like this a FSM is a neccesity (sp?) Not just a chiltons but an actual FSM.

Get the chilton's too! Not a really hard job but will take a solid weekend and follow all directions. Don't be afraid to ask tons of questions

You can get the Mazda shop manual from your local Mazda parts department. Not cheap though.

some 999 silicone
MAYBE: the side coolant gasket that goes in the head.
Oil and filter
