Overheating?

I have the FSM for my car on PDF format. All I do is print the sections that I need (never more than 3-4pgs) and take it out with me.

Also i keep my Chilton's handy for any dumbed down explainations that I need :)

OK, here is what I ordered today:

-Head gasket

-Valve Cover Gasket

-Gasket set which includes exhaust, intake, water pump, thermostat housing and some other misc. gaskets

-Water pump, might as well since I got it tore apart

-Head bolts

Total was $301 if anyone is interested.

I also have a new radiator cap coming on a seperate order along with the oem lower rad. hose, since I ordered the Beavis Block, and will not be using the flex hose anymore since it is what started this whole problem.
Someone suggested getting some 999 silicone. What is this for, and where do I get it.

When I take the head in for machining, I don't have to dissasemble the damn thing do I, meaning take out the valves and all?

Nooooo dissasemble...Johnny P5... Is Alive! :D

In my past head gasket experience on my pro fwd civic. If the head gasket wasn't blown that bad we did not resurface it. So in my opinion if it is torn in a small place I wouldn't worry bout it. It's your decision. :D

WOO HOO! Head Gasket is changed and the car is runnin good. No more spitting coolant out the resevoir. Went pretty easy. Now I know 85% of my engine and components. The scariest part is torqueing the head bolts. You have to torque them to 15 ft lbs, then turn them 90 degrees, then turn them 90 degrees again. That second 90 degrees feels like the bolts are gonna snap!

good job;)

Helll yeah! I remember doing the head torquing. That was kinda scarry holding the block while its out of the car and torquing the bolts.

Explain why the heat would be an issue on a head gasket if no fluid would be lost...

I'm having an issude with overheating, and I removed the thermostat and am still having issues.

With no coolant loss?

Are you sure your coolant pump is working?

without thermostat your are not allowing the engine to cool down properly.

If you have problems with overheating and no coolant loss, then the engine has bubbles inside (air gaps).
