o2 bung

Hey guys, question for you. I heard that in order to keep the o2 sensor healthy for a while, the o2 bung for my AEM UEGO to be installed soon needs to be at least 18'' away from the turbo. I am installing a Corksport J pipe and it has a bung welded in already. Would I be okay if I use that bung in the J pipe even though I don't think it's 18 inches away from the turbo? Has anyone plugged their AEM wideband sensor in the J pipe or do you all go further down?

Some use the j-pipe, some go further downstream. My advice to you is: If AEM takes the time to say something should be mounted "X" distance from the turbo, you should probably just do it like that. Do I think that having it in the J-Pipe will hurt it ? No, not really. But I mounted mine about 24" downstream. You're going to get pure opinion on this question.

Just mount it in the J-pipe. If it burns out, just get a new one, they're only about $70 a pop. I've ran mine for 8 months and I'm still fine.

It's not about being renegades lol. I mean if someone can run it in the J pipe bung for 2 years and have no problems, that's a great 'life expectancy' already. I'm just trying to use that bung rather than plug it and weld in another one further down.

hey i am going to be mounting mine 18 inches from the turbo, but i just dont want to drill and weld a bung in my custom made 3in down pipe.. :-(

Mount it where ever you like. Also, it "should" be mounted at least at a 45 degree angle, or ideally on the very top of the exhaust diameter with the sensor tip pointing downward, so fuel does not pool on/in the sensor. If people ran it in the J pipe for 2 years, that's great, however if you were installing a SS-AFC, would you just disregard the instructions and "wing it" ? Nope. I'm sure you'll be fine, i'm just a stickler for following directions.

So in my case, I have reg protege midpipe. 1st o2 sensor is manifold and then do the non fouler trick in J pipe for 2nd o2 sensor? Then weld in a new bung for a wideband?

You'll have the primary O2 sensor in the turbo manifold. Then, do the non-fouler trick to the bung that is after the cat, your secondary O2 that determines cat function. You can either use the bung in the J-pipe for the wideband, or plug it with a bolt, and have a new bung welded in before the cat somewhere. I personally had a bung welded in, it was like $30.

I dont have a bung after my cat. My midpipe only has one cat
