I have to believe both USAA and Amica are having excellent auto insurance. But not everyone can get USAA. For Amica, if the company can do this, I'd say they are one of the best!

Traded in my MY15 for an MY16 and ended up with a grand in my pocket...
Amica. Aside from a little misunderstanding about the value of my car when they made their first settlement offer (which got worked out once I explained to them what car configuration I had and that they were just saving other people's money since they'd be able to claw everything back from the other company, and that since I am their paying customer with no claims on my record whatsoever (i.e. all premiums = pure profit) they probably should pay more attention to me than the other company) I am really happy with their customer service and claims process.
Given the initial complexity of two potentially guilty parties I just did not want to deal with the situation and just went through my own insurance.

AARP is the cheapest rates I've been quoted. Does anyone have bad things the say about them? I am really wanting to switch to AARP (Hartford).

Insurance rates vary by age, marital status, credit rating (not all use this), driving history (dmv and insurance records), location and other packages. There are other variables but these are the majors. Keep in mind insurance companies are global, so when a hurricane hits in Indonesia, your rates could be affected as well in the U.S.

Anyway our insurance went up by $20 a month compared to a 2006 Volvo s40. We have full coverage including emergency, uninsured and underinsured. $500 des for collision $100 for comprehensive. Our other vehicle is a 2010 accord v6 and I'm outside of Philadelphia and pay 107 a month. This is with Farmers and our home insurance is also through them which adds to the savings. In due time I'm sure this rate will go down.

I'm with Amica and think they're fantastic. Best customer service I've ever had with an insurance company or similar, by far. I shopped around too, and their rates were very competitive.

I use them as well!

I have had them for 10 yrs! They are very inexpensive and have excellent service to boot! (bundle your homeowners and it gets even cheaper)

I had Hartford once upon a time and was happy enough with them until, as usual, the rates started climbing due to no fault of my own. At that point I switched to Nationwide, then jumped on a joint policy with the gf at Liberty Mutual. As mentioned above, I'm now with Progressive. I had a quote from Amica but they were several hundred dollars higher. I'm also just outside of Philly (western burbs) and my first 6 months with Progressive (full coverage obviously) is $427.

The one bit of advice I have is to lower your deductible to $0. I did this and it cost me $3/mo or something. Now if my windshield takes a rock...it's free, and those kinds of claims do not affect your policy.

Hartford or Hartford/AARP ?

Just curious...Were you with The Hartford/AARP? I found Hartford to be expensive on its own (without the AARP "break"), (also way back when LOL) But when thru AARP, they were like a different company! (Both in price and "TUDE":D.)

My next door neighbor that I have know for over 10 years, has a State Farm office here; he was astounded at their prices and said he could not even get close!

It was exactly our situation. We used to have AARP/Hartford with very low premium even with two teenage drivers. But the rate started creeping up yearly even with zero claims. I called Hartford and the rep told me Hartford is giving up Texas market and they don't care of losing customers with higher rate. That's the time I switched.

I actually use high deductible ($1000) to save money. My theory is insurance is only for something big. If you file more than one small claim within a year your policy either will get cancelled or your rate will be going up. Not worth it to file small claims just pay it out of my own pocket.
