I have to believe both USAA and Amica are having excellent auto insurance. But not everyone can get USAA. For Amica, if the company can do this, I'd say they are one of the best!i have only used USAA and Amica for the last 7 years and have gotten excellent rates and customer service from both of them.
Amica. Aside from a little misunderstanding about the value of my car when they made their first settlement offer (which got worked out once I explained to them what car configuration I had and that they were just saving other people's money since they'd be able to claw everything back from the other company, and that since I am their paying customer with no claims on my record whatsoever (i.e. all premiums = pure profit) they probably should pay more attention to me than the other company) I am really happy with their customer service and claims process.
Given the initial complexity of two potentially guilty parties I just did not want to deal with the situation and just went through my own insurance.
AARP is the cheapest rates I've been quoted. Does anyone have bad things the say about them? I am really wanting to switch to AARP (Hartford).
I had Hartford once upon a time and was happy enough with them until, as usual, the rates started climbing due to no fault of my own. At that point I switched to Nationwide, then jumped on a joint policy with the gf at Liberty Mutual. As mentioned above, I'm now with Progressive. I had a quote from Amica but they were several hundred dollars higher. I'm also just outside of Philly (western burbs) and my first 6 months with Progressive (full coverage obviously) is $427.
It was exactly our situation. We used to have AARP/Hartford with very low premium even with two teenage drivers. But the rate started creeping up yearly even with zero claims. I called Hartford and the rep told me Hartford is giving up Texas market and they don't care of losing customers with higher rate. That's the time I switched.I had Hartford once upon a time and was happy enough with them until, as usual, the rates started climbing due to no fault of my own.
