NEMOC Random BS Thread

Hey guys,

I'm planning on making this announcement public sometime next week, but I figured I'd post here ahead of time, seeing as I gave my notice at my job yesterday.

Ryan's company is moving manufacturing overseas, and sending us with it. We'll be moving to Malaysia for two years, with some time every year to come visit. We're going over for two weeks in July to find a place to live, then we'll be moving sometime in August, depending on how long it takes to pack and wrap things up over here.

As I won't be able to get a work visa while I'm there, I'm going back into freelancing design/development, but this time with the ability to put 100% into it, which is a huge dream for me as I've just been sputtering along till now (so if anyone needs a website...)

We're going to be selling my car and storing Ryan's and the vette, and keeping the house, renting it out to some friends.

ummmm that's about it?

Whoa.. That's some heavy duty news!!!

Congrats to you guys. Are you excited about heading over to Malaysia?

Out of curiosity, how come you can't get a work visa?

Wow! Congrats! Make sure you do lots of traveling and sight seeing! I noticed your bike wasn't on that list, is that coming with you? Could be a chance to kick off your "professional" cycling career :) Just kidding, but seriously, my sister-in-law has been in Japan for years and swears by her bicycle.

Ha yeah, pretty excited. Going to be a good jump start for my career, too. There's some special s*** you have to do, I think, to get a work visa, since I don't work for Ryan's co. Plus I'd rather work for myself.

Oh yeah, we're already planning our travel. On our way to/from there we'll be doing layovers. Right now the plan is Hong Kong on the way out, and London on the way back.

I will DEFINITELY be bringing the bikes. We're going to have a bunch of stuff shipped over. Bike riding/racing is still a thing over there, and I'll probably get myself a MTB since there's MTB racing.

thats such a crazy move!! Id be def nervous to move out of the country! hopefully there is some great biking out there for you

got more pics of the merlot

Evening Gents!

Finally updated the original post on my mountain climb thread. I've got links to all the photos and their respectable owners. Let me know if I missed anyone!

drivers seat is rough, but everything else is in order. I'd try to talk him down to under 4 though.

Umm, for that price? No. What kind of performance is 170hp really going to dish out in a car that size? I doubt it will be as quick as the more affordable options like the MS3 and Focus ST.

I want an ST so hard..

It is SUCH a bad idea with the new commute starting next week.

thought about it, but 21k for a fiesta seems a bit much. I also wouldn't gain anything MPG wise, though I'd be gaining about 70hp.

Additionally, I'd lose all the flexible configurations my fit offers. I can cram so much in that car.

honestly, I'm holding out for the diesel cx5

My sister has a Fit and I concur. The door openings make it very easy to fill with stuff. My wife's focus, although bigger, just doesn't seem to absorb the same amount of cargo.

You and me both...but I don't think the towing capacity will be enough for me to justify buying one. Plus I've had a lot of people tell me diesel is a pain in the ass. But I could be convinced if the car was capable of hauling a 2,000lb trailer.

Diesel is a PITA sometimes because not all stations carry it.

As far as the fit goes, that car defies physics. With a thule roof box, I can carry more stuff in the fit than our outback.

My record so far (all in one trip) is a deck bench, four barstools, a 20 inch TV, and a deck table.

It was a big shuffle of cars... I sold the MSM and MS6 for a Veloster and a 10AE.

no more boost for you sir ...

Thank you SO much everyone for showing up. I'm finally able to sit down and write this to all of those who participated. I think it was an amazing inaugural event and I can't wait until we do it again!

There are pictures being uploaded at a crazy speed from everyone, and I'm trying to gather them all so we can see all of them.

Thanks again everyone, it was awesome meeting all of you.

Mt climb was awesome Chris and thanks for letting the only non mazda climb with the rest of the pack, my other mazda weren't ready for the trip but I wasn't going to give up. Would like next time to have one of my mazdas to make it up the mounting though.

You sir must be good at tetris to be able to drop so many stuff in there lol ..

hows everyones weekend so far , did front brakes on mazda3 rotor & pads change and replaced thermostat with oem one so i wont get cel anymore regarding low coolant temp which made me not drive it to the mt climb .. next up is to replace door panels cloth section with vinyl wrap as cloth is coming apart and dont feel like redoing cloth again, this should be fun ..
