Bumper Cover

The sides of our bumper cover aren’t very secure—they come loose very easily. I can smack them back into place, but they eventually pop loose again. Mazda’s method for securing to the fender doesn’t seem very good. Anyone got a solution?

The clips or fasteners may be worn down or even broken. I would try bending the plastic clips on the bumper "down" just a tiny bit, to create more tension on the black retainers mounted to the body. Use a heat gun or hair dryer and heat the tabs carefully and slowly to avoid damaging the paint/plastic or burning your hands.

Or take it to the dealer and see if they can help you out for free.

The screw in fastener tab is broken (pull it out a little more and you’ll see it) else it does not “pop out” like that.

ABS plastic is fantastic for how it works but a challenge to repair. You can google for ABS slur/glue receipt, then cut out/double up another piece of ABS plastic underneath to recreate the mount hole. OR, get a plastic welding kit (hot staples) and weld (staple on) the addition piece. You have extra space underneath so lots of space for margins of error.

FYI, epoxy and many OTC ABS glues don’t bond well but I have not tried everything. It held at first but any bump/stress will easily break the joint.
