NEMOC Random BS Thread

I'd say 2 weeks but you already started modding it. Congrats Mark.

Nice, what's the weight and offset?

Conti's going already??

Been offline for a while. Been busy with my brother and his wife. Scott played in a rugby tournament and won all 3 games and no injury much to his wife's happiness. Been in Islamorada since Monday and having a blast. Been kayaking, drinking, eating. Did a wave runner tour yesterday around the key here and saw a shark, turtle, and did some snorkeling on the local reef. Managed to hit 52mph on the waverunner, flat out on the smooth water. Got a little cooked sunwise so staying quiet today. Scott managed to launch himself off the waverunner after being on it for 10 mins. He went out diving today.

Car is still running well, but very dirty. Trying to find a car wash but no luck so far.

conti's are fine but they're 16" rubber

Returning the car to the dealer due to noise in the bottom end, unless he rebuilds the engine at no charge.

:(

Sorry to hear about the car Ash. That sucks. GOod luck with a replacement.

Nice Mark. Always liked that style.

thanks bruce, stay out of the sun today! you don't want to go thru what i've been thru this winter with my ear and face! looks like i may have a buyer for the eneki's... :)

Sux to hear Ash, good luck in your hunt. I see Sean has been very helpful. :)

Lather up with the 50spf before going out Bruce. ;)

That would be me :)

The RPF1s are light enough in 16 compared to the OEM 99 15's that I'm not bothered and I won't complain about the shorter sidewall. I'd be using them for daily driving, the incoming 15x9 6ULs will be for the track. (First track event is April 20-21, NJMP)

Phen, did you actually have a prior interest in them? I'm not dead set on them. Just was starting to look for a set of wheels for my wife's 2 (which is on original rubber on steelies), or a set to daily for my MSM so she can use the ones I currently do. Considering I will be sitting around 250whp shortly, passing on these for something wider wouldn't leave me crying. :)

Alternatively, I can take them for now and you are open to buying them off me later. I'll have literally 5 sets of wheels in my garage, all 4x100 lugs and either 15s or 16s, so sooner or later wouldn't affect me.

Yeah, but I'm not hell bent on them. You got first interest man! No hard feelings at all. If you want them, great! If not, then I'll get them. Don't let my interest sway your decision man.

So... what's up with your MSM, and how are you going to have 250 whp shortly? I'm curious. Once I get mine tuned, I should be around the same or more.

2 days ago I ordered the FM2 conversion, Hydra, 700cc injectors, crossflow, and stage2 fans. Plenty of hardware for more than 250, but I'm soft-capping it at 250 since I don't trust the rods past about 270, and I'd like to give myself a bit of a buffer under that threshold.

I may have the engine built at some point, or another spare engine built (my track record with piston engines is deplorable), and would then go higher. 250 will be plenty fast for now though :)

Next up in the queue thanks to my tax returns and bonus, is the 6ULs, 3.63 rear gear, FM clutch happy meal, and oil cooling stuff.

I don't know exactly how the oil cooling will work out just yet, but I'm sure I don't want to go with an oil-to-air cooler, and instead want an oil-to-water cooler. Quicker getting oil temps up, manages oil temp with the water thermostat, and I don't have an oil cooler hanging out in a place that could disable the car with unexpected damage. Not a fan of the FM steering rack mount or of putting them in front of the front wheels. A Mocal Laminar flow exchanger, like this: (http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/product/11003/Mocal_Heat_Exchangers), can be placed in a much more protected spot. Airflow over it is not needed, and a 7.5" long medium one looks to be roughly the same cooling as the FM oil cooler. The big drawback to that method of oil cooling is that it DOES put the heat into your coolant system, so you have to have the cooling capacity to deal with it. I believe I will, and in case I don't, I will have a 'limp mode' map in the Hydra to trigger if it sees the temps of either go too high. The part I'm working on is placement and running the lines properly. All theory at the moment, nothing in hand yet.

Sooo much like the mafia, the Mazda is pulling me back in. Might make a condensed effort to put the Mazda back on the road, since my friend said he'll fix the rust/dents for me. We shall see. Could be the beer talking.

We'll have to start calling ol' Macy Rasputin, as she has avoided death several times, and keeps coming back!

HA!

I made an incomplete list of things that need to be fixed:

struts
rust/dents
exhaust
crank pulley
a/c hose
change fluids
door locks
alignment
vc bolt/gasket
brake booster?
power window tracks

ash, i was going to say "good thing you didn't buy my p5" right after i gave it to my son the power steering line busted, then last fri the hood release cable broke...but honestly, looks like your list on "Macy Rasputin" is longer than the p5 now! good luck with everything!

morning all!

mike, you are really going to town on the msm huh? can't wait to see it/ride in it!

What is your appetite for a car that needs single but larger repairs? There is a white 2000 Millenia down in this area for $600, just needs a transmission, which I can find for $200-$500. I've previously been tempted to buy it and do the replacement and resell it, but it would mean kicking one of the current two out of the garage for the duration.

Yeah. My biggest regret with the 8 is that I never had the money to modify it, or when I did, I paid it off instead. Most of the money for the current stuff is coming from the sale of the 8 though, and my wife understood from the beginning that the only way I was going to be able to deal with the sale emotionally was spending it all on the MSM. :)

Hrm, considering the cost of getting the car up here and then the work to do the trans, I'm less inclined at that. My car does need a new trans considering that 3rd gear is non-existent, but I've been living with it like that for almost 4 years, and I have a spare trans in CT. Thanks though.
