2016 CX-9 Signature with 212,000 miles. It's been a great car with no issues but standard maintenance and a belt (if you don't count the head gaskets at 100K).
Just returned from a non-trip due to a sticking rear caliper. Short story: stopped at rest stop after 30 miles on highway and smelled brakes. Driver's rear wheel was hot and definitely the issue. Other wheel was cool to touch. Not wanting to be hundreds of miles from home and deal with issues. We cycled the e-brake a few times and returned home. On the way home, It was dark and I noticed twice that the rear brake lights were on and my foot wasn't near the pedal. A tap on the brakes turned them out. When I got home the wheel was same temp as the other.
Given the high miles, I'm not looking for longest service life, but do want reliable brakes at a reasonable price. I changed out pads ~50K ago, but didn't bleed. I'm thinking I'd replace pads, cleanup, bleed, and do rotors if out of spec. I am stumped on why the brake light would be on and change to off after the brake pedal was tapped and am not sure if perhaps that was a cause, symptom, or unrelated to the rear caliper dragging.
Thoughts on where to go from here appreciated.
