New C5 eh Jeff? Must have been that test drive we took at the Glen.
Bought a used goodwin midpipe but won't get a chance to install till I head south. I may ship it to Mark, if that's ok, when I head south thru Boston in Mid Oct.
Taking in Mary's car, Focus, to our Miata tech nite tomorrow to get the mechanic to verify some issues. I think the RF CV joint is going and the RR bearing is humming.

Just two days. Most of the time is just all the prep work and time to dry between each coat. 3 layers of black base. 2 layers of blue. 3-4 layers of the top coat with the actual color mixed in.
I took a quick video. Short walkaround of the car in sunlight. Very difficult to capture the metallic flake though. The sparkle is so intense.

I forgot to mention to you guys. I had the control arm recall done on my CX-9 recently and had the RX-7 in for A/C work. Two separate days, the dealership gave me a CX-3 on the first day, and a CX-5 on the second day. I drove both to work and back which gave me plenty of time to get comfortable and enjoy them.
The 3 was like a monster truck Miata. Very agile with a throaty exhaust. The paddle shifters were really fun but all I had to do was put it in sport mode to get it to shift when I wanted. It was very aggressive in sport mode and I eventually turned it off because it was rougher driving than I do with a stick shift. I'd say its more of a track mode than a sport mode. It's size was too small for me to make use of. I felt a little cramped in the driver's seat and there wasn't much of any cargo space. I did not like the HUD or lack of analog speedometer at all. I had a digital speedo in my '87 Cougar and it was so annoying. You can't tell how fast you are going with peripheral vision and when you change speed by 1mph it distracts you.

The 5 was more like a mini-9. It also had a sport mode but wasn't nearly as aggressive and it seemed a bit underpowered despite having the larger of the two motors. It didn't have a playful exhaust note. Analog gauges for speed and tach much better than the 3. The steering wheel felt small for such a large vehicle though. Overall size was fine and I could live with it. Definitely more sporty than my 9 without giving up too many creature comforts. This model was fully loaded with leather and all the options including Bose, which I felt sounded worse than the non-bose stereo in the 3. I'd buy one for sure if they offered a motor powerful enough to tow with.
Both cars had great bluetooth integration and it only took a minute to sync my phone. I made calls easily and listened to Pandora while driving. Out of all the features I wish my 9 had, it would be the tech package. Speaking of the 9, I've seen the new one but haven't driven it yet. I've been following the forum posts though and it sounds like gas mileage from the turbo 4 isn't great. People are claiming worse mileage than my V6.
We just had to replace the right rear bearing on Amanda's 2012 Focus. She is at 60k miles I think, always garaged. She thought the wheel was out of balance but I couldn't feel any shaking to go with the sound. Only other repairs she has needed so far were a faulty auto light sensor and MyFord infotainment reflashes. She hasn't even needed brakes...but they're due soon. The rear rotors look like bad pottery dishes.
So I almost bought another P5. I looked at two of them and sadly both were beyond repair. Rusted out everywhere, brakes, struts, etc. Then along came a killer deal I could not pass up from work. My new winter ride is a 2004 Jeep Liberty Columbia Edition. It has 140K miles and is in excellent condition. I'll post pics soon.
I've trolled Craigslist for P5s here and there. Not many left up here that aren't rusted out. Oleg had the right idea importing one from Cali. He complains about the paint not being great but comparing it to anything seen on the road out here it's so much better.

Hey Hey! So happy it's Sunday night but only because we are off tomorrow. Moved Kaila into the dorm last night and our son starts school tomorrow so the house will be nice and quiet. If it's not too hot maybe I'll remove the bushes in the front yard.
The Millionth Miata Celebration Tour made a stop at Young Mazda here in town today. I was up 7am, washing and vacuuming out the car. Felt like I was at The Glen or LRP with Mark. lololololol Spent a couple of hours there this morning, signed the car, got some custom door jamb badges made and chatted with fellow Miata owners.

Tam has been wanting one for a couple of years. I made the mistake of getting her onto the lot to walk around and look at them up close. A week later we test drove one and the deal was done. lol

So what was the verdict with Mary's car? Get it fixed that night or did you need to order some parts?

noooooooooo. I sat in one at the local dealership and Id really like to take one for a ride, but I need to find a dealership wayyyyyyy out of the city so I could actually drive and open the damn thing up!

Such an amazing weekend. Cruised up Saturday morning from Mercedes of Burlingtion MA with 100+ exotic cars to New Hampshire were we held a car show.

Then a Kank Run after that... then a cruise up Mount Washington with just a few of the guys to watch the sunrise. We had lunches, dinners, breakfast... the works!
Mary and I drove Hewitt. First time I actually got a chance to really work the DSG transmission climbing the mountain and many back roads. I was surprised how well it kept up with the other cars, though I know they were not pushing that hard. Lol!

Great pics as always Josh. Nice snag on the Jeep too. They can be a hassle with repairs sometimes but at least parts are cheap. Perfect winter wheels though!
I spent yesterday working on the RX7 brakes. I was getting some squealing occasionally so I put new pads in. The ones I pulled still had blue Mazda paint on them. While the car was up I put the new sway bars in too. That was quite a task. I read online that the bushings can be a hassle and they definitely were. After a quick drive, the new pads aren't all that great. I am going to try to bed them again today. I didn't have the rotors turned (didn't really need it) so it may take a few sessions to improve the bite. The pedal feels solid, I just can't get the tires to lock up.

I'd love to go, but new job requires attention right now and my street tires don't do to well....next season I'll have the msm up there!
Ok, next season I am definitely doing one of their one day track schools. Once you do that you can go to their open lapping days where the track is open all day long.
I've been messing with the front sway bar a bit. It was binding up so I added some washers to loosen the bushings a bit. I also installed a smaller steering wheel which really opens up the leg room. Doesn't look as cool but I might buy one of those burgundy leather wraps to make it look closer to original. Wish I could have just extended the stock wheel so it was closer to me. That's all I really need.

Too bad the telescoping wheel wasn't an option back then Chris.
How was everyone's Labor Day? I broke out the chainsaw and cut down the weeping cherry and white birch in the front yard. Both were dying and the weeping cherry was essentially half a tree at this point. Def made the front yard "bigger". Need to borrow a bigger chainsaw, mine is a 16, to cut the trunk of the weeping cherry down. With the trees out we can now move forward with landscaping/water control. Plan is to install a drain in the driveway with a swale on the west side of the house and a berm across the front. Now the fun part....designing it.

I managed to clean up the garage and reorganize all the boxes of parts I have for the truck. The side mount bracket came in but the fitament is too tight and I need to drill out a few holes to get it to slide on. Also, the alternator I planned on using doesn't fit...so...anyone want an alternator? I got the grass cut and used some bondo to fix the bottom of the shed doors where the mice have been getting in and out. Hoping that will keep them out for the season.
