NEMOC Random BS Thread

Due to a change in the customer's plans, my schedule up to New England may be rescheduled.

However, the one pic I took that I loved from Petit.

That would be fun! I was actually browsing a couple of hotels in Sebring last night but they had no occupancy for that time. :( Could they have already sold out for the race?! If things work out and I can go, I might just have to make a detour through AL to stop and see my parents and from there, take a trip to The Dragon.

Good news for my daughter, looks like she's accepted to her top choice. They have asked her to take the SAT again due to the score requirements of her major but unlike another college she applied to, they have provided us with great communication and alternate options if she can't get into the program her freshman year. Unlike the first school we heard from and contacted via phone who gave us the "take the SATs again, that's your only option" road. Guess what, you ain't getting my money! lol

What about taking core classes at a local community college first and then transferring? Would that help?

That often backfires spectacularly when half the core classes one has taken don't transfer to the next school. Happened to my now-wife, and this was all in-state.

What *is* a solid plan is to get a 2 year degree at a community college or tech school (which covers those core requirements). Once you have that piece of paper, I've not heard of anyone have trouble transferring.

That's the exact route I was pushing her (for obvious reasons) but she has chosen speech pathology and we have discovered that it's better to start with the school as a freshman vs. transferring in later. Two key factors are due to the competitiveness of the course, approx. 70 seats per year (25-30 for the post grad program) and the curriculum. We've found that the schools mix the major specific classes in with the core classes during the freshman and sophomore years. The school she wants to get into also requires a minimum of 10 observation hours split between audiology and speech path prior to the Fall semester of her sophomore year.

Thanks! As of today we are pretty sure she has been accepted to the school but this next test will determine whether she gets into the program or has to go in undeclared. At least that is my take from the email correspondence back and forth. Fingers are crossed.

That is what I meant.... We, who were in the military, often have the same problem. Some colleges will carry over our credits, but big name (money) schools won't. This happened to my co-worker who wanted to get into a Nuclear Engineering Degree school and was denied.. He received his 2 year degree online (Accredited btw), and had no issues after that. (btw..... He was 22 years old and help operate a nuclear reactor, or 2, on a carrier....)

That's the exact route I was pushing her (for obvious reasons) but she has chosen speech pathology.

I have 2 family members who graduated with a degree in this... One with a Master's and the other with a Bachelor's... If she has questions or needs help, I can put her in touch with them. :)

Yes! Sebring!

Let us know if you are in for Sebring! We had to get a hotel about 40-45 Minutes from the track! We did have some people camp inside the corral. Hopefully, the track will start working on pricing, sooner, rather than later. We have eliminated Daytona, Belle Isle, Mazda Raceway.

We are focusig on the events were we have the larger turnouts. Here is our prelim schedule for 2015

1. Sebring-March
2. Watkins Glen-June
3. Mosport (Toronto)-July
4. Lime Rock Park-July We will have designated Mazda Camping Only again.
5. Road America-August
6. VIR-August
7. Road Atlanta-October

As soon as we have pricing, we'll get it out to you ASAP!!

P. S. Labor Day Weekend, MOCO and Autointerests will be hosting a HPDE. We will have Mazda Pro Drivers coming to this event. We had Tom Long and Andrew Carbonell come out and they'll e back next year. I have invited Marc Miller, Stevan McAleer, Chad McCumbee and Tyler Mc Quarrie out as well.

As soon as we finalize things with Mid-Ohio, I will get you the information to you. This is also when Phen hosts is Annual Cookout, too!

I never went back to school after getting out but have heard similar stories. Kind of dumb if you ask me, just goes to show that it's all about the money and those big name schools want theirs! Have to lol about your friend...the Navy schools him and trust him to operate a reactor on carrier but he can't get into a nuke program. Off topic but may be meeting up with a current nuke grad later this month, he's buying my OEM wheels and currently in upstate NY.

Nice! And thanks, I will let her know!

Thanks for the update Marlon! So all of the local hotels are booked already. Ah well, just means a nice drive along FL roads to/from the track. :)

As of right now, I will be in town for the weekend of the 25th. I'll be shacking it up at the Hyatt at Mohegan Sun.

Anyone want to get together for dinner?

If there's enough interest for Sebring, I can look into a house. Cres (CR3 Motorsports) and his wife are coming out from Hawaii. Is Phen coming? Once I look into it, I'll need commitment. Let me know your thoughts and I'll keep you posted with what I find. So far I'm seeing Mahk and Jeff possibly. Anyone else in?
