Ok first of all whats up to all of you guys out here. I am new to this site and I am also in the market for a new 5. I have gone to a dealer already and gotten what I believe to be a decent quote. I live in Jersey, so here is the deal. Silver, Auto, six cd and sunroof, and leather. No other options. The dealer has offered me 17,780 out the door price. I took the 1500 rebate instead of the 0% finance because I am paying the car in cash. What do you guys think. When I go back to the dealer I am going to offer a little more then 17k and see what happens from there. Any help would be appreciated.

yeah but the interest is not really going to be equal. cds are not very high right now and i have lost enough in the market

take the 0%, even if you put down half the price of the car. save the rest or use it for mods. i dunno bout that price...........check the invoice price............alot of people (including me) have gotten it around invoice. $17,800 just sounds kinda high............

purchased my car 1 month ago:

2003.5 Silver Automatic. NO options. None at all!

Purchase price: $16874
Rebate: $1750
Out the door: $16710 cash deal
plus made dealer throw in a trunk cargo net.

IMO you can get a better deal than $17,780 if your paying cash. And go for the 5spd instead of the Automatic. :D MUCH more fun.

(werd) Cash talks and you know the rest.......

Man,

I got mine last week completly loaded 5 speed for 16,450. Thats REALLY HIGH for cash. although you guys do have more taxes than ohio dont you?

Ok guys here is the deal. I am not going to accept that offer at all. Let me break it down a little more for you guys because I am going to the deal tomorrow. The sticker on the car is 19,165. With Taxes, title, documentation fee the total goes up about 1,250$. So the out the door price without any haggling at all or msrp would be about 20,400. This dude has offered me out the door the car is mine not a penny more for 17,863. I am going to go in and offer 17,000. I don't know if I will get it but its worth a chance. Please note that the price already includes the 1500 rebate.

Cash deal?

Make 'em do better. They probably can, and they should. Money talks, and while yes, the dealer makes money off the financing, selling a car for cash is always great for them.

At the very least, see if they can include a beefed-up warranty or something for the same price.

They WANT to sell you the car, so haggle over it. I'll bet you can get them down some more. Play one dealer against another if you can, too.

And just for some of you in other parts of the country - it's expensive to live in this area, and prices of things are higher. While MSRP on a car is the same nationwide, dealers here NEED to make more money on each sale just to stay in business. So - just for example - if a dealer is satisfied making $1000 profit on a car in Buttfuck, Arkansas - the dealer here might need to make $1500 or even $2000 on the same deal, because the cost of living and doing business is significantly higher.

No offense to ANYONE who might live in the aforementioned town of Buttfuck - or Arkansas! ;).

Mine was a little more than that price and I got mine for 100 over invoice, then they messed up financing but anyways I got mine for $17,100 and mines loaded.

If they're gonna sell you car car for $17,863, then you want to haggle them to throw stuff on for free. lowering the price doesn't mean you get more stuff, it's simply lowering the price. so look at it the other way and see if you can get your dealer to throw in a whole bunch of stuff for free.

my cousin just bought a P5 for about $17,312 (converted to USD from CDN) and got a shitload of stuff threw on: 2 yrs free maintenance, bug deflector, sunroof deflector, rustproofing, bumper guard, scotch guarde, permishine, wax, and even license registration.

alone, that's probably a $500+ value.

This stuff is worth little to the dealer, so try using these things as a bargaining tool. The worst thing he/she can say is NO. If your dealer is serious about your business, then they can throw this stuff in. If not, then just walk... simple as that... there's no need to invest "feelings" into this.

i agree, if your paying that much in cash, make sure they throw in stuff for free (sport exhaust:)?). just remember, you know what you want and you have the money. if you dont like it, go elsewhere. they are at your mercy.

cash deal

2003 silver manual mp5, no options.

15k out the door. walk the walk and talk the talk. don't rush to buy and call around so dealers battle for your buck.

hey kidkorrupt was that after taxes?? if so how much percentage are you taxes?? taxes here in jersey are 6% the price the guy quoted was everything out the door. I have also called around and nobody has really blown me away at all, pretty much the same price. I am going in tomorrow and offering 17k out the door and see what they say!

Hey guys just to give you the latest. I got a better deal for a little better car. The msrp is 19255 and the dude will give it to me with the rebate included for 17500 out the door everything. So I called the first dealer and told him that the second guy would do it for 17400 and told him to beat it. I think he is going to do it at around 17350 out the door. What do you guys think now. Seems like a really good deal on a car with a 19165 msrp!

yeah what are you guys paying for taxes? I see some of you get really low out the door prices, do you live in a tax-free state?

in WA the tax rate is 8.2% I believe it's pretty high, that's why you can't just compare the out the door numbers between different states/country, we have to compare our purchase price(before tax, lic etc.)

Ok ok here is the the final post before I got to the dealer. I got two dealers to pretty much bid on me buying the car. The lowest I have gotten up to now is 17,300 out the door. The car is stickered at 19,165 and the taxes are 6%. This price also includes all of these fake bogus charges that they hit you with. Documentation and all that other stuff. I think its now a really good deal. I have one more phone call to make then I will be officially joining the club.
