Must...be...fastAr

ahaha, if you say so Jeff...I got someone buyin my wheels(the ones I bought from you) off me, so I'll put some of that money towards it :D

good thinking going with an EBC...you'll thank yourself...if you went MBC, eventually(prolly soon), you'd be thinking "you know, it would be nice to crank it up to 9lbs to give some hard runs, and bump it down to stock for plain old highway driving so as to save on gas"..also, certain EBC's, like the AVC-r, and I think the Greddy ProfecBII might have it also, is you can change your boost levels for different Gears, and even RPM(ie, lower boost in first, so as not to break too loose, then more in second and third, ease off a tiny bit for fourth, and stay almost stock boost for fifth(or atleast lower boost for the higher end of 4 &5)..I really want the AVC-R..and will prolly be getting one, with a few other goodies in the spring

like what? I aint got no money(lol2)
free mod, unbolt the exhaust after the cats. boosts instantly, holds more boost, you can leave the muffler alone it will stay(looks stock)and its free. I lost bolts on a road trip I found this free power on accident.

probably a bad idea considering a internaly wastegated turbo...boost spike might be a problem.

I have a mbc which was set at 8.5psi along with an intake and a heavy right foot boost jumped to just below 10psi and the car got a lot louder. I was on the freeway racing to catch an evo. evo got caught, he was very shocked to see a car that loud. (all turbo sucking, sshhhhhhhhhh)
boost was holding steady though. then again every car is different.

are there different version/gens of it I should look/look out for? If I get one its gotta be on the cheap side of things(prolly look on eBay)
Yes there are a few versions to be careful of like the ones that read boost as kg or bar those are confusing to me as everyone talks about boost in psi. (quickly) how would you know what bar 12psi so as too not pass that point, the supposed safe spot for this engine.

I do wanna do some stuff on the track, but damn spring is a long way off...Hey Im a damn good driver I think, for having NO formal instruction yet(drive)

gonna take it down the 1/4mile soon hopefully ;)
*snort* hahaha...

r u still gonna buy that turbo timer i have?

I don't get it, all he is talking about doing is freeing up exhaust. What difference does an internal wastegate make? Not being an ass, just geniunely curious. I'm not considering doing that to my car, but how would doing that compare to a 3" tb exhaust?

at least colder spark plugs.
no need to...you will lose perforance. i ran stock msp plugs @ 10psi with bad cali gas and never got detonation. i swaped plugs back and 4th about a millon times and got more power & better track times with the stockers. if anything you might have to regap them...just fyi

running an open exhaust like that = more exhaust for the turbo = puny internal wastegate can't open fast enough = boost spike....:D, best way to explain it i guess..when you have a full TB exhaust it is fine..

So our wastegate is puny? And external wastegates are generally larger? Our turbo is puny too though ;). And I would think a smaller wastegate would have a better reaction time than a large bulky thing.

you thought wrong...:D, i run open DP(spike territory usually) on my car with a mbc, never once in over a year got 1 spike...

boost would never go over what i set it at, like if i set it at 9psi, it will goto 9psi, never 9.2 or 9.5...etc..

why do you think almost all the msp owners here with a mbc(like joep for exp.) get boost spikes? unfortunately people live with it and act like its ok :(

if you wanna go fast for cheap, go to a shop and have your cats removed (put in a mil elim) and get a custom dp if you can. Then get a Turbo-IC pipe made (leave the IC-TB pipe, it does nothing performance wise at this level) and pick up a mbc off ebay for really cheap. Pick up a boost gauge. Some say gets colder plugs, i did but dont notice anything really, safer I guess...then a KandN dropin is dyno proven for some small gains, but i think it will help spool the turbo a bit quicker for you, and i think it complements you exhaust. So thats about $500, you should be making 190hp(running around 9psi) and run around 14.9, not too shabby considering how heavy the car is.
