Hey all. I assume this a stupid question, buy how many of you have had performance cars in the past? Before the Speed? Not factory performance cars but one's with aftermarket parts?

The only reason I ask is that you all seem to have alot of compliants? Is everyone happy with there MazdaSpeed?

I know from my past experience that any time you alter anything on a car (especially the suspesion) there is always going to be some corks. As much as the aftermarket companies try to be perfect, they will probabaly never be as refined as the manufacturer. To take it one step further, there was a certain buget that Mazda was trying to acheive when they built the MazdaSpeed. Also keep in mind that it was the first time they had produced something that extreme.

I personally, despite all the corks think that the MSP is a great car, especially considering all that you get for the money!

Best handling front wheel drive car in the market!:D

agreed. I've owned several little "hot rods" and they all have their own querks. Every car is different and should be judged accordingly. I like the MSP. think it's real neat. It is deffinatly the best bang for the buck on the market and with it's current price drops is only more so.

I've had Taurus SHO's...(big engine, FWD, handeling package) and as far as total over-all package the MSP excells in every catagory. It's sporty, it handles, it's got a great interior treatment, and it is very stylish to boot. It's only lacking forged internals and AWD to be the leader of this catagory.

I enjoy my MSP. I've had a 94 Integra, and a 2000 Si and both of them had there own problems. (Integra had cooling issues and the Si's third gear). Every car has it weak points and quirks. You just kinda deal with them.

this is my first import car, but i've had several mustangs with 300, 400, and 500 rwhp.
all cars have their little quirks. my bmw doesn't like to go to a car wash. it messes with the idle control. but i still luv it.

my msp has some quirks, but it has got to be the best bang for the buck going. you get a lot for little money.

I think the msp is a fun car. My rsx type s had idle trouble grinding gears etc. This is why we have waranties right. Anyway I wish I would have bought the msp first before the acura. Reason being the price diff. and turbo, got to love the low end torque.

Cruise any other car forum and look at comments about factory hot rods and you hear exactly the same sort of things. SRT-4, WRX, Evo, Mustang, Camaro, etc. There are guys on those forums moaning and groaning about their stupid decision to purchase their car. Only difference is here there seems to be a hell of a lot more automotive knowledge and guys figuring out how to fix some of the Speed's shortcomings.

For the joy I get from my Speed I will gladly look past or better yet try to fix the problems that arise. This is quite simply the first car I have ever owned that I have not started wanting to trade for something else within the first year I own it. Instead I just want a blue one to go with my orange one. :)

(stupid) please quit bitching about your car and enjoy it.

He wasn't bitching, he said he loved it.

Anyway, I love my MSP, I haven't had to have the dealer do anything to it yet besides the flash, I hope it stays that way!

Oh, and I had a turbo MX-6 before this, it was an '88 so it had quite a few problems.

I love my MSP... I've had it since July, and it's been a blast to drive. The weird thing is, everyone seems to think it's a different car, instead of a Mazda. I've heard anything between being a Euro car to being an Evo or even an IS300. Besides, it's nice being a 4-door subtle car....with decent power under the hood. I had been shopping for about 6 months for a new car, and narrowed it down to the IS300 and the MSP. Why did I like the MSP? The handling, the forced induction, it felt roomier than the IS300, it didn't stick out as much, and it was more unique. Not to mention the guy who sold it to me was really cool.

Why join the crowds of people wanting an EVO or WRX STi? I think our cars are better performers than those cars on a daily basis, which is why we bought our cars, right? ;)

I think our car is a better daily driver, but by all means doesn't hold a candle to the EVO or STi for performance. AWD is awesome and can't be compared with. If you wanna compare, try comparing to the SE-R Sentra or the SVT Fuckass :D All joking aside, I do love this car and thing it's an EXCELENT daily car. It do not enjoy this on long road trips (maybe I have been too used to heated leather seats, but I think it's great for touring the twisties.. not a long road trip w/o cruise control :D )

Really, you didn't like it for long drives? Was it just the seating or was it the ride too? I drove it from VA to IL and back and really thought it was the most comfortable ride I had experienced on that drive and I have travelled it with several different cars. I am sure there are many better though. I can see if you have driven a Lexus or some other luxury car you could have easily been spoiled by all they offered.

I wish they would sell out at the dealerships and people would regal them as the best car in the price range for years to come. Not like I am selling it anytime soon maybe never but I wish resale would stay higher. I guess it is still too early to tell though.

I love my car. It is plenty fast enough for driving on the street and looks hot.

Yes. An IS300 to be exact. I'm just spoiled b/c those seats were GREAT. I like a lot of Lumbar support for my back. :D

And superspud, I'm not bitching. Just speaking. Like I said originally I love my car and I'm 100% happy w/ my purchase. Merry Xmas :D

I don't know, I browse "stangnet" and there's very little complaining about the car on there.

It's about time I saw a POSITIVE thread regarding our car!
Sure, I had the hesitation issue and now the clunk...but this little car makes me smile EVERY SINGLE DAY! I just love it!

lol. I used to be on Stangnet. Yeah, there are the happy guys. Then there are the I should of bought a Cobra guys. I've seen a lot of owners gripe about the squeaky suspension, the windows that fall off the track, the fact that their car looks like a 4x4 coming from the factory, the cost of a camber required when dropping over an inch and half.

I don't know mabey things have changed since I went for an import. All I remember about stangnet was constant threads about gear ratios which turned into arguments between milw96cobra and everyone else about how steep of gears should be run.
