No mail order for me!

DID we ever figure out what the best sub that'll fit in the MSP enclosure is.I really want to change mine out and want the best that will fit.I dont even mind canging the amp for it.

just a thought on that, has anyone tried replacing their stock sub AND dynamated the inside of that crappy enclosure? maybe coat it with fiberglass resin? something to stiffen it up.

Well i never thought of that but it would work. The only downside to doing this would be decreasing the inside volume of the enclosure.Unless it is actually to much airspace for the sub, then it would do nothing but help. Are these enclosures really that flimsy?I will check it out when I yank it out to change my sub.I am going to go ahead and get the JL8w3v2d2 and run the amp at 4 ohms.I will flip the amp over in the stock location and use longer bolts and aluminum spacers on the bolt so that the amp does not sit right up against the box so the air can circulate over the heat sinks. If I am not happy with it then,I will yank out the enclosure and do a new box and sub set-up later. The JL cannot sound worse than the crappy kenwood that is in there.Kenwoods subs have never been known for greatness.Has anyone tried fitting a 8'' MTX sub in the box?I have never heard of many of you guys talking about MTX at all. I have had good luck with them.I also have had many JL products over the years and used to swear by them.SO either way I am sure i cannot go wrong.

i haven't had the opportunity to play around with the MSP enclosure. does anyone know the actual air space of the enclosure? adding a layer or 2 of dynamat or coating the interior with resin won't decrease the air space enough to be noticable. throw in some polyfil and it should be good.

as for MTX, i've never been a huge fan of their subs. i am very disappointed with their shady advertisements and claims of the 9500:(

I'd estimate the airspace around .5 cubic feet at most. I'd love to see if an Image Dynamics ID8 v3 would fit, 15mm one-way Xmax and a low Fs of 23Hz. Their mounting depth is 4.75" tho.

whats the mounting deapth on the box. heck u can stick an idq10 in a .5 enclosure and get good sound out of it.

Any idea how much you can get for one of those 9500's in their pre-fabbec ported box that they sold it in? My buddy has one, used, that he's trying to sell...I'm trying to get him into something smaller, lighter, and better suited to his orion amp's output.

as for that MSP enclosure...I'm not sure if you *can* take it apart. I have mine at home so I could see what is possible if I fiddle around with it.

i wanna say you can get the 9500 with box for like $450 or something near that. what's his amps output and at what load?

as for the MSP enclosure, i guess it'll have to be coated with resin to stiffen it up to prevent vibrations a more powerful sub can produce.

I think he posted it on ebay w/ a 450$ reserve...he said teh subs were going for 430$ brand new on ebay. His sub and box haven't been abused or anything...he's running it off an Orion amp sending 500W RMS. It's not enough for that thing...he's thinking about getting a Brahma now, though. I told him to try for an eD 10o, though...I wasn't sure if 500W would be enough for the Adire.

There's a lot of fun to be had with the MSP enclosure...but I'm not sure if there's anything useful to be gained.

500 watts is plenty for a brahma, in a decent sized enclosure.
well...he wants something smaller and lighter than the beast that he had before...so, definitely not a giant box.

1 cu ft sealed for the brahma 10 would be great for that amount of power. course if he goes with ported, 1 cu ft tuned to around 30 hz would be sweet.
