MSP re-sale value

People have been upset around here when they looked at trading their MSP.

Keep in mind that you can buy a new one right now for around $15.5-16k, so you'll probably be looking at $10-12k on a dealer trade right now.

Resale value is plummeting as they pile on incentives.

I'm trading in for an EVO, and the dealer will only give $12k for my car. It's a crime that people don't recognize the value on the MSP.

and you are the one who is trading your car in....

Well, it's an upgrade. You won't consider an EVO as the same class as the MSP. For the amount of money, the MSP does give good value.

I got the same exact quote... 12K

I was just shoppin by the way :D

The dealer said that it was the rebates on the car which is killing the value. Wait awhile and it'll go back up *crosses fingers*

are you ****** serious with this post? i guess every mazda dealership also doesn't recognize the "value" of the msp since they are selling them for 15k....if you get 12k for the car that would be a good deal because once you drive that car off the mazda lot you just lost 3-4k....if you don't belive me go buy a car, drive it 2 miles down the road go back and tell the dealer you want to sell it back and see how much they will give you...

Just wait till everyone blows their engines, there will only be like 20 MSPs left... Maybe the value will go up then?

it's still a protege...do you see a lot of first gen selling for $50K?? This is mazda, not a ferrari...

FWIW, I'm tyring to purchase a 94 FD3s R-1 RX7 with brand new engine, petite exhaust, etc for $15K. Entire car only has 54K miles on it.

$12K for that used MSP is a better price than I'd pay for it! (not trying to take anythign away from the MSP)

You're never going to see one with THAT attitude, sir.

My advise is wait a little while till the rebates are done. (Should be soon) then sell it on your own. You will get a lot more. The car is definitely worth more than what they are selling for new.

I'm having the same problem right now. I'm wanting to get rid of my MSP I just bought in July and now has 9,000mi. on it. Dealers will only give like $10k or so for it. The problem is that since the cars are still pretty new, they only have the regular Protege to price them by. MazdaSpeed Protege is not listed in the books yet as far as I know. It sucks being upside down on a car that you don't like. I'm gonna sell another car I have and use that cash to offset the balance on the MSP so I can get rid of it I guess. Sucks!
