Miracle for fuel economy?

Started my experiment tonight.

1995 Dodge Intrepid with a 3.3L V6 (OBD I), 143,000 miles

On the tank prior to filling up I got 24.1 mpg. That is pretty typical to what I get when I have measured in the past. Mostly freeway miles. No A/C because the AC does not work.

Always fill up at the same station with the cheapest 87 octane fuel in town. In this case it's a Safeway grocery stores gas station.

I'll report back what I get with 5oz of Acetone in an 18 gallon tank.

Haven't filled up yet, but it looks like my 91 Blazer running 4.5 oz in the 18 gallon tank yielded no improvement in mileage. I'll no for sure when I fill it up... I'll run the same experiment one more time but up amounts to a full 3 oz per 10 gallon based on what I put into it tonight... so we'll see.

I put in 2oz of acetone in a tank of gas in my car. I have abut 205 miles with 1/3 of a tank left, which seems pretty normal. To top it off, I did a lot more highway than I normally do.

I'm on my second tank with acetone. This time I put 5 oz. in with 12 gallons. So far I'm at 180 miles with 1/2 tank left. I've really been pushing it lately, though, since my buddy loves to race me in his Hemi Ram. The extra acetone seems to being making a bigger difference so far, but I won't be able to tell until the end of the tank.

These are my results so far:
0.0 oz acetone = ~22-24 mpg average
2.5-3.0 oz acetone = ~28 mpg average
5.0 oz acetone = ~30 mpg average (estimated at 1/2 tank)

I was thinking it could be on older cars that have had to develope carbon desposits where as mine only has 5000 miles.

Or that it could be from the winterizing agents that are added to gas up here now.

Flying, where are you?

I'm right here! In Montreal, Canada... But it's still summer up here! :) (can't believe how warm it is!)

did 3 oz. with my 10 gallons....got nothin different...same mileage...same power (wasn't expecting any change in that anyway) and engine isn't runnin' smoother....

oh well....i tried and me getting 33MPG without it....can't complain

i'm not driving as many highway miles anymore, so it's going to be hard for me to compare.
but my car is liking cold starts though, it's starting to get a little chilly her in NH. the 4 miles of highway i do drive, it drives like a bat outa hell.

i'm only running 80 ml over 14 gal though.

It could also be the quality of acetone that plays a role... Just a thought
Well, if it's pure acetone, it's a simple chemical, yes? Don't see how that would effect much.

I agree... but if it doesn't say "pure" on the bottle/container you don't know excactly what you're getting

I bought the vlue and yellow gallon container at that Depot, how is that for purity?

I normally get 20-23mpg depending on how I drive and how much highway I drive in my car.

I just got 21mpg with a tank and 2oz of acetone.

Didn't do jack for me. :(

When I filled up last night, I added 4oz. Hopefully it makes a difference.

yeah dana, but you are also boosted. i was reffering to non-turbo p5's.

so, basically, its working for some people whie doing absolutely nothing for others?

I say, fill the damn tank up with acetone. lets see if we get more mileage and hp(laugh)

this may seem like a stupid question, but is gas in GA the same a gas in CA or anywhere else in the states? There are different refineries. Are they all refining the gas to the same level? Could that be what's causing some to get better results than others?

that's what I used to. My brother got improvement with it in his talon.. I got nothing in my Blazer.
