miata vs. MSP

Friday we had an open test 'n tune before an SCCA Regional/Regional race. I was paddock marshall so the track gave me a 'hall pass' to run all day.

First out I helped a guy that runs a team of 6 Spec Miatas scrub in new Khumo Victo's, gotta drive two of the cars. They don't have enough power to get out of their own way. They have rear-end twitch under threshold breaking.

Later I had a chance to take the MSP out, box-stock, OE tires and flashed. on a back straight where the Miata would hit (maybe) 85, the MSP was consistantly at 102 in the same place. On the main (5,555 feet) straight the MSP could break 100 feet later

Lap times were about the same, but I wasn't pushing either car and the Miata had race tires so that's kind of an apples / oranges thing.

Wonder what a MSP motor in a Miata would be like? Hmmm.

Clearly my ACTUAL experience and the timing systems are wrong, because if sombody found it on a website it must be true.

Well with correct timing, fuel controls, and a bigger turbo.....WELL DUH!!!(poke)

I had a Miata great car nice handling power wise very torquey low end and light car I had NOS on it and OH MY GOD power off the line and threw every gear MSP on the other hand with the 2.5" exhaust and boost at 9psi is fast alot more power all the time even at top end and alot cheaper cause I don't have to fill the bottle anymore

I have both a MSP and a SE Miata. The MSP is hands down a lot more enjoyable to drive. By the way there was a ranking as to what car is used by gays and lesbos the most... the Miata was runner up (My Miata is in storage)

Regarding the gay comment...
If we look at how many MSPs have been wrecked compared to the total number of MSPs in existence we can conclude that MSP owners are the worst drivers in the world.

This means nothing though, unless the MSP and the Miata were driven on the same course under the same conditions with the same driver, the slalom speed means nothing.

The skidpad rating (1.1g) hints at what the car is capable of.

My '99 (all stock) runs 0-60 in 7.7 seconds and the quarter in 15.8

I got it for $12k.

The Miata has a big advantage that the MSP can only dream of.

An engine that doesn't suck, RWD, 50/50 f/r weight distribution.

Oh wait did I say ONE advantage....
