Mazdaspeed's weak tranny

it's for double and triple shifting, like you should, not granny shifting.

/fast and furious

You should probably add like 13 gears while your at it. But you'll still top out at 150.

Yeap..That's exactly how you can tell..Engine revs increase but speed goes nowhere fast!

I really want to bulletproof the block to run 18-20 psi.... thats my real goal...

Didn't Joe P allready safely run these types of boost levels with proper fuel tuning, but without doing any of these mods?

Maybe for a second....I doubt he runs at that psi daily.

it was for a track run i thought.....he never ran it at that high of boost daily driven though. keep in mind he was running 116 race gas at the time.

past 16psi the t25 is blowing hot air, u wouldnt see any real whp gains either....if u want a easy upgrade either get the t25 upgraded with bigger wheels and some wastegate work or swap a t28 in, the t28 should bolt up to stock everything, the oil lines may need to be bent a lil thou.....coming from nissan sr motors its the same as ours.....t25 is a penis turbo........:)

Its all about the granny shift......... I think ive shifted and gotten 2nd gear 3 times in 9 months of having the car. it still flys without beating the he** out of it.

our cars already have a synchro on either side of each gear... I've seen them myself... so I don't know where or how they'd put more in.. other than maybe stack them on each other..I could see that working maybe...

I believe that not a SINGLE person to date has actually chewed off gear teeth or twisted a shaft in the tranny with power... so in other words there has yet to be a tranny that has failed due to too much output from the engine... thus the tranny is not "weak." yes people have had issues with the shifting forks... but that is a shifting issue... (things will brake when forced or used improperly or poorly). So I don't see anything wrong with anything at this point. I can give you that the axles may be useful.. a few of them have been broken by people with slicks doing 1/4 miles with launching.. but that's kinda harsh really... so that's my 2 cents...

nope we checked them... exact same teeth configuration... seem tooth thickness and length... same material.. same shoulder.... don't get it!

on a different turbo right?

the stock one loses efficiency past 16psi. T3/T4 would be a nice choice. That is going to be a lot of cash to do and may take a lot of time. I would go find a used engine in a junkyard, build it up and that way you still have a backup.
t3/t4 is a nice choice but wouldn't a disco patatoe be better that is a t28r I believe
good to 500 whp

Yeah..That's definetly something to do when upping the HP..The stock clutch can hold out..but for how long is anyone's guess..

I am at 6psi..w/ a stock clutch..and it occasionally slips...

my welded MSP LSD is now in.. no vibration or issues so far... just little driving around town, won't get it up to highway speeds until Monday... but it's all good! uh.. that is after I re-connected the speedo after having a heart attach that the speedo didn't work.

Next up... writing a how to on taking out a tranny :( or should I say :D for anyone who wants it...
