Ok the CPE site says the Mazdaspeed 3 engine can fail at over 300hp at the wheels. So Does the Mazdaspeed6 have the same internals and if so would it not possibly fail at a lower hp since its Awd?
Well its hard to say what hp will blow motors.
Some blow stock. Some blow above 400 hp.
I'm pretty sure its been a mostly rpm dependent debate though with all sorts of root cause theory's. Blow under 3000 due to high boost from a quick spooling small turbo and rods that are just not beefy enough for the stroke of the motor, or blow up high due to faster rotation.
Some say the excess gases from the egr valve cause it after carbon buildups. Another theory is the pcv vale leaking too much oil back into the intake. Another theory is the balance shaft causes improper oiling to the third cylinder.
So to answer your question it could possibly fail at a lower hp due to drive train losses. Or you could run for 2 years on 19psi from a gt3076r, who knows?!?!?!
