mazdaspeed 3
new owner of a mazdaspeed 3 here. I noticed that the first gen uses the same motor as the second gen, so with that said does that mean the second gen can use parts from the first gen motor? (ex. BOV, CAI, SRI, cams, headers, etc etc.) Other than motor is there anything else if anything that the two gens can share?

you can use some parts interchangably like the BPV/CAI/SRI/ not sure about the cams and headers and stuff. but just do a check first and you can tell if its compatible or not.

For the most part yes. It is the exact same engine. but the engine bay is shaped a little different. So all the part will mate up to the motor for sure. But will they fit in the engine bay? Im sure they would.

Also, springs, coilovers, swaybars, breaks, rotors are all backwards compatable. So thats a plus. But the aftermarket is about to open up real soon for GEN2s. Not that it isnt already there for it. Just wait for COBB AP and then jump on that. It will probably be the best bang for buck other than suspension mods.

Of course, this is just my opinion.

Cobb is gonna make parts again? That's cool. I remember a while back reading that cobb was never making mazda aftermarket parts ever again, and they shut the project down.

They didnt "shut the project down" per say. They were in the middle of a huge move of their entire R&D facility to Texas. So they have put the majority of their thoughts and ideas on the back burner. This all happened the same month that they got their 2010 MS3 so they didnt have time to start working on it and now they are playing catch up. So they finished their current projects and moved. Now they have the FMIC, SRI/CAI, COBB AP, suspension, and other products coming out or already on their website for purchase. COBB is keeping tuning alive!

Thank god! I've been bummed out about the lack of performance mods that are out for this car. I know that Cobb is pretty much the only company out there that's really taking this car seriously. I'm also really interested to see what some people come out with for body kits and exterior styling.

Congratulations for getting the Mazda speed 3.I hope it is working fine and can you share some pictures of it???
