Mazda Speed 3 Problems.

Geez I am starting to think that operator error may not be so much out of the question as origionaly stated. LOL anyways good luck with your car. I have almost 60k and not a single problem to date. even with all the mods that I have.

sorry let go of a srt 4 325 whp 400 tq with a 27 lbs spike , beat on it for 2yrs an never gave a problem , lol.

Better Business Bureau !!

Guys I want to add something that no one has apparantly mentioned. File a claim with the better buniness bureau online for mazda to credit you for the time that your car has spend in the shop. Its great because they forward your claim to mazda for you and in turn mazda should contact you about your claim and offer a settlement. They check your service records through your vin #. My car, for example has had many problems (blow turbo, Timing belt tensioner, Etc...)and has spent a little over a month of total time at the mazda dealership. And more, My dealership didn't have loner cars and used a car rental company of which the dealership covered $20 bucks a day..And you know what you get for 20 bucks a day..a POS chevy Avio. So i upgrade myself for ten bucks to a better car in which case my car spends 8 days for the turbo and i have to cover the $80 bucks. I was pissed of the constant cycle of every 3 motnhs my car spent a week or so in the shop, I was paying for a car I couldnt use! I asked mazda to credit me for two monthly payments approx $1000 bucks..but we settled at 800. Mazda will be sending me a check in a couple of weeks. So if you car has spent significant time in for warranty related work..FILE a ClAIM and get your money back.

I did file the claim, now the mazda tech is the only one that can touch the car , he comes twice a month so i missed it now i gotta spend another months buying qts of oil an a new car that smells like oil everytime it seats at iddle(protest)Im just gonna drop it off an not pay the car until i get it back.

Yup ..Same s*** with me about the tech. No one could figure out why my engine was making this ticking / ratteling sound so my car sat there for two weeks before the tech came .. and figured out it was the timing belt tensioner that messed up my cams.. I was so pissed about the whole situation that if the tech couldn't figure it out after two weeks I was gonna tell mazda I didn't want the car and to buy it back from me.. the service record on my speed is a dozen problems long.

I had an 02 protege ES before my speed and I never had to take it to the dealership once and when i traded it in at 60k..I never had one major issue with its durability. I can't believe my speed has been so far from that.

easy fix, look at your the bolt that holds the seat belt buckle put a few drops of oil or even wd40 and all is well. Do it to the passenger side if needed. Best fix ever, was getting sick of the squeak when i drove, save a trip to the dealer. It was meant to swivel freely so if it gets some friction through say vibrations from driving it will make that noise. Oil it up and i completely forgot i had those squeaks.

Hey man...I noticed in my car mine makes a squeaking noise and sounds like its coming from either the seat or around the center console or something. Are you talking about the part of the seat belt that it buckles into (the little stalk on the side of the seat) or the actual metal buckle itself?

the squeaky part is the female buckle where it attaches to the seat, not the buckle itself.

I'm definately getting bothered by my car also..

-Seatbelt squeaking
-Rattle on dash
-Bushings making noise in the cold..

1- drop of oil, problem solved
2- its not the dash its the window cowl. go to dealer get bushings , put on new bushing, problem solved
3-uhmmm, deal with it for 5 minutes and then it stops? problem kind of solved

bushings deal with it for 5 minutes. I live in MN and it doesn't stop after 5 minutes. It's more like the whole ride. I'm thinking of trading it in for a Camry SE. Just need something nice to move around with.

turn the radio up?

on the bolt that holds the seatbelt. it is between the seat and the center counsel. i used a dab of lithium grease.

Yea i have had that annoying squeak too! I wasn't 100% positive it was coming from that bolt area but if the grease works then I am definitely going to do it!

yep it works. you just have to work it in a bit but after a minute or so of moving it back and forth the squeak will end

im gonna do that cause is buging the life out of me. well im still waiting for the loaner that will never arrive in the mean time my car smells like a grill.

A few things like the radio problem is well documented. Suspension noise has been an issue for some in the cold (this is true of my Mazda5 as well) and others have had turbos that went bad early also. Some of the other random things sound, well, random.

I hope that your car works through these issues and you can enjoy it. If it makes you feel any better read the long term update of car and drivers 08 STI. It was not problem free. New trans, grinding brakes, power surges etc.
Both Subaru and Mazda have good cars but these things do happen.
