Mazda Speed 3 Problems.

In 8000 miles I wore out my fronts, and never launched the car once...nor did I really ever lose traction below 30mph...its called throttle control... and cornering hard...this cars actually pretty good at it...

werd... I have serious rollover marks on the sidewall from me cornering hard. Yes my tire pressure is good too.

my g/f got her 2007 speed3 with 500 miles on it "brand new" as well. she has had the cobb stage 2 suspension from about 2500 miles now has 25000 miles....no uneaven or premature tire wear. when she did her CBE with RP her turbo smoked (12000 miles) the dealer replaced it no questions asked only took a day and they gave her a rental. she hasn't had any other problems. It truly is just hit or miss on the speeds..??

i've been having problems with mine too.. the major one is my broken motor mount and falling motor.. i'm really upset with the amount of problems i've been having with this car and on top of that, i've been unhappy with the customer service provided.

I would have to agree about the car , i guess i just got the one , but the srvice its been great from the service advisor . I went to get the rental today , turns out that if i dont have $200 in my credit card they cant give me the car, even thu its cover by the dealer , so now i have to wait until they get one of their loaners back wich is like never to get my car in service. This is a bunch of b.s if u ask me.(stfu)

Agreed people can't drive

No truer statement has ever been uttered.

Count my MS3 as one of the trouble-free samples. People also have no perspective when it comes to percentages. Even if there were 40 people on this forum that had issues out of conservatively 5,000 cars you're dealing with a 0.008% failure rate. Which is damn near perfect from a manufacturing point of view. And when you consider how complicated modern cars are.

Having driven with many people and witnessed the endless amount of stupidity that occurs on the highway, I can say that a good number of people have no idea how to drive and as a result kick the crap out of their cars. Cars are "systems" that require care. If one part of the system is faulty or marginal then the whole system is compromised.

I also think that people who buy a car over 20 miles from a dependable factory authorized service provider are just asking for trouble. Better you go with a brand that's has services close to home becasue inevitably you'll need service.

It's been said before but the process for getting a driver's license in the states is severly lacking. A few turns, low speed maneuvers and paralell parking does not a driver make.

No doubt some of you have fallen on a bad apple, but I'm sure others just don't know how to take care of their cars.

Serious lack of traction???

seems like a bunch of speed3 owners have issues. I traded mine after all the squeeks rattles and serious lack of traction below 30 mph. While the speed3 is a fun car, it definately has some issues that other well performing cars dont

What do you mean by serious lack of traction?

The truth is, people don't come to a enthusiast car forum to praise the vehicle. They come to learn how to fix something, mod something or to b**** and moan that something broke and/or they had a crappy experience with a dealer. Every once and a while we'll see a, "What do you like about the MS3?" thread, which usually evolves from a never ending amount of, "My car sucks, I'm selling it!" threads.

I think some people are asking a lot from Mazda with their $21k car that packs a lot of bang for the buck and is pretty well made for the price. Sure, it's had some growing pains, but as a limited run car, do you really expect Mazda to address ALL the issues that have reared their ugly heads? It's cheaper for them to address these on a case by case bases, while denying warranty service when you walk in with mods than to publish multiple TSB's that most of us would take advantage of even if we didn't have the problem. Not to forget that Ford is part of the ultimate decision process.

I've had my 08.5 since May and have put 16k+ miles on it (alot of highway commuting) and I haven't had any problems with it. Yes, there are some rattles in the cold weather, mostly due to the cowl trim by the windshield. Easy fix, but I haven't had the time and energy to deal with it. Other than that, the car feels pretty solid and I don't hear rattles or funny noises from anywhere else in the car. I've had many cars in the past that rattled. I owned two convertibles; a '99 Miata and then an '04 S2000. One was a $24k car with rattles and the other was a $34k car with rattles. Sure, the S2000 had less rattles, but it still had some here and there. The cold weather brings out lots of funny noises from cars. Plastics get hard, fluids get thick, metal contracts, etc... all cars have a rattle of some kind in the winter time unless you're driving a 7-series.

Id look up some of the Lemon laws and see if your entitled to fight to get all the issues fixed, or a refund for the car. your in FL, so heres your link:
www. yourlemonlawrights.com/state_laws/florida.htm

you may think its alot to read but it may get you the means of having your problems fixed

Please if you are thinking of doing this if you take it in for ANYTHING service related KEEP YOUR RECEIPTS!!!
It will help you tremendously.

ALL cars have issues. Mine rattles a little- nothing that is of great concern. There is also a TSB/TSP/whatever it's called for a squeek where they replace a part of your seatbelt. If you have concerns about rattles squeeks or whatever you should always take it in and have it looked at. If you hava GOOD dealership- they will find the problem and contact Mazda to have it fixed.

not to be a dick or anything, but i just figured it should be pointed out that 40 out of 5000 is .8% not .008% which is a pretty substantial difference. 8 out of 1000 people would still be pretty good, but nowhere near the 8 our of 100,000 that the .008% would indicate.

I need to get that seatbelt squeak and the cowl creak taken care of. I'll probably do them myself in like 30,000 miles. Lazy bastard that I am.

I took mine up there because there was a tiny piece of the steering wheel stitching coming loose- I mean TINY. I am really picky though- and it's a brand new car- why should my steering wheel have a piece coming loose from it? I took it to them- they ordered a new one, and warranty paid to have it replaced. Now there is a TSB on that too.

easy fix, look at your the bolt that holds the seat belt buckle put a few drops of oil or even wd40 and all is well. Do it to the passenger side if needed. Best fix ever, was getting sick of the squeak when i drove, save a trip to the dealer. It was meant to swivel freely so if it gets some friction through say vibrations from driving it will make that noise. Oil it up and i completely forgot i had those squeaks.

Good advice!
What I did was when I went in to get the tire looked at I got them to order the seatbelt- then when I went to get the tire put on they had it and fixed while I was already there.

I get hassled for having 15,000 miles on my '08. Some of you have way more than that. Not saying that's bad! I just tell them I paid for the car I'm going to enjoy it. I didn't buy it so it could sit in the garage all the time!
15K miles and the worst problem that I have had is the collision with the deer. :(
