Mac or PC

here is my take, as to why a mac is going to be better than a pc out of the box, so to speak... (and i STILL think you should go with a pc)

the pc has all kinds of s*** installed on it. especially if you get something like HP or Compaq, and even Dell sometimes. so much junk and garbage, that its going to freeze, etc and run like dog poo.

it is my experience, after selling computers for a year and a half before i started selling cars, that the macs have less garbage stored on them from the factory.

if you know what youre doing (and assuming you didnt buy a total piece of garbage that even the hardware sucks), you can go it and clean the hell out of the computer and optimize it.

reseructing the thread back to life....

edit : btw, the new windows have the option to record/watch movies/showes from the cable/tv line, which i think is hot. the Imac G5 can't do that, but a "tv tuner" seems to fix the problem. you think it is a good idea?

Make sure first there is a TV-tuner for the Mac you want. TV-tuners are an add-on item that there is very little selection with for MACs. I had to get an mpeg-1 EyeTV-100 tv-tuner for my iMac last year, the tuner was overpriced for the quality it delivers.

As for the thread of Mac or PC, I have an iMac (OS 10.3) on a wireless network with a Dell and Compaq and see little difference in them. They all have iTunes, Limewire, AIM, Yahoo messenger, Quicktime, Windows Media Player.... loaded on them. Only drawback I find with the MAC is with some websites I go to, I cannot watch news segment videos at MSNBC due to the MS in MSNBC, certain Yahoo Games won't work with the MAC, and a few other small problems like that. As long as a computer can connect to CaptainStabbin and BangBus, it's doing the job.

All I can say is I'm sick of scanning for spywares, viruses, updating my windows to make my computer slower everytime to PREVENT spywares & viruses. I wish I can use a computer like my brother, no other worries when browsing the internet.

and you don't put "Rims" on your car, a "Rim" is only part of a "Wheel" , not the whole thing.

Sorry........Just a pet peave of mine.

adaware and spybot for me. Then again I rarely have any spyware and have never had pop up issues or a virus. NEVER. Just use common sense and don't click on the stuff you know you shouldn't. Any respectable web site or company should not have any spyware pop up ads. Hence the reason Why I joke people with spyware are looking at porn too much....most of the time, it's true.

Anytime I see someone say they they defrag their drive a lot I can't help but chuckle. Don't get me wrong, it's a good habit. Kind of like cleaning your room. But, actually "seeing" a difference from a defrag to the point of doing it religiously.....rarely happens. Even less if you are using NTFS. Honestly, I "might" defrag twice a year. I used to be really anal about it, and defragged once a week. Again, don't get me wrong, theoretically you should do it often.

To me, if your machine is that ****** up and slow, format it. A monkey can format a hard drive now with XP. On a decent machine it takes less then 30 mins to format and install XP. Now, lets say you have a near full 200gig drive. How long does it take to defrag? And how much difference do you really see afterwards?

This is kind of off topic from the thread though isn't it.....I have to think of something relevant quickly.....hmmmmmm.....Mac's suck :) just kidding. Oh sorry, "Apple Macintosh's" suck. j/k

Actually, I don't have any spywares or viruses. In fact, I haven't gotten viruses in almost 5 years and spywares for a while. But it's the fact that I have to RUN the goddamn scan and update windows to prevent it. I'm sick of it.

I don't run anything on my system in the background like that and I never have problems. Stop going to porn sites and you won't have to.

My first computer was an Apple II GS....loved that thing. Had where in the world is carmen sandiago...game was bad ass haha. Next we moved to a PowerMac...remeber those babies? Man good times. Then i got a NEC computer..powerful at the time. I think it was something like 300mhz, 10 gig harddrive...not too shabby. Then a sony Vaio ...and ever since then, my family has stayed sony people. My father has a sony desktop and laptop, my sister has a sony laptop, and i still have my sony desktop. 2ghz, 512 ram, Raedeon 9800....it handles stuff well. I want to upgrade tho cause i've been getting heavy into video editing using Sony Vegas, and 2ghz takes forever to render a video.

It's not just porn sites and I don't run anything in the background.
Also, my point was that, PC you have to have these programs, constant scanning, constant updating to prevent these stuff. It doesn't seem to be a necessary thing for Mac.

And PC is a personal computer. technicly an Apple product could also be a PC by definition.
