locking bike carrier to roof rack

I bought this bike carrier Saturday http://www.sportrack.com/a882rp and everything is fine except I realized that it locks the bike to the bike carrier, but bike carrier doesn't lock to the roof rack. So I've been searching on the web for an answer and the only one I could find was "Lock the bike carrier to the roof rack, using the incorporated locking mechanism. If your carrier does not include a locking mechanism, install lock cores, purchased separately, into the appropriate spots on the roof rack". So my question to you fellow zoom zoomers is how could I lock it in place while still looking OEM/clean?

The only way you can lock the carrier in place to the roof rack is if you bought some mounts with locks. The link that you provided doesn't show that this came with any. If you can find some mounts that have locks in them it shouldn't change the look from what the current one looks like other than they might be bigger because of the lock. I personally have never seen any that do this, but I'm sure if you look hard enough you can find something though they may not work with your carrier. I have a bike rack like this one on my car and haven't been concerned about theft, but if you're truly concerned about it the only other option would be some sort of locking nut that would go on the bolt in the mount or one that requires a specific tool to remove.

I am not 100% sure there is a way to lock it to the actual car without the lock cores. I have a Yakima roof rack and the only thing they have to use is the lock cores. Does that supplier make lock cores for the rack because i couldn't find any on the website (even though i only looked for a minute). If all else fails.... Duct Tape?

you other option would be to go to the hardware store and get some security bolts that require a special tool to install and remove the bolts. They have a strange looking head on them that would prevent the use of standard tools to remove the rack from the car. It's not 100% locked on per say but the closest your gonna get with out getting locking cores

Simple thing would be to just get a cable lock and loop it around the factory racks and bike racks and thru the frame of the bike when leaving it unattended then just take it off while driving. Get a long one and loop it thru the back wheel and around the rear rack too or use 2 shorter ones.

No they only sell lock pins for the hitch style carriers. Well I thought that it would be something to look into, but if you guys think that no one would take the time to unscrew those bolts, I'll leave it as is.
