Insurance...

Just curious if the "older" guys out there have seen their insurance climb this year. I'm 32, married with a kid, and have nothing on my record within 5 years, and excellent credit. My auto insurance went up over $150 since last year -- it's over $1500 now.

I just checked out Progressive and they were waaaay high, as well as the companies they pulled up for comparison.

This is ridiculous. The P5 isn't that bad to insure, because my wife drives a `99 Chevy Prizm and it's only $99 less to insure -- they give a breakdown of coverage per car. This is a friggin' joke!

I'm just frustrated and pissed, because it gets harder and harder every year to pay the bills. I wish I got a 10% raise this year -- at least that's what my insurance company thinks!!!

I have Travelers Indemnity, btw. Never done a claim through them, so I have no complaints or experience to make any.

I am with Progressive with a 02 P5 (full coverage) and a 97 VW Cabrio (full coverage)... I pay $110/mo. But I also selected 100/300/100 with high deductibles. They are the cheapest I have found...

Mine went DOWN $280 this year yippee!! But that's only because a 7 year old ticket finally got removed. :) It's always tough comparing insurance because each zip code has different issues, but I pay $1581.24 / year with Allstate. It'll be goin' up though thanks to all the hurricanes lately, so I'll prolly drop some coverage.

Yeah, I agree it's tough to compare. NY state has one of the highest averages as far as insurance goes. Also, taxes too...hmmm.

Reg - I almost had my wife convinced to move to the Keys this year, and then hurricane season started. Hope you and your family stay safe!

I have Travelers and am paying over 3k a year, but i'm not "old" so that's probably why.

Thanks. I got off lucky. Lost some trees, fencing, some windows and need a new roof ($9,000 ARRRG!) but oh well that's life. Nobody I know got hurt.

Granted I'm only 24(for only 2 more months) and i have a clean record(no in state tickets) and i pay 2099 a year. that was even after switching to AAA. before i was paying as high as 2800+. This is for full coverage (100/300 all around)and a $500 deductable. NEW JERSEY HAS ME BENT OVER SO BAD I'M REALLY TURNING RED BACK THERE. (upbum) ouch (upbum) ouch (upbum) ouch

Now is that in deutchmarks or dollars.

wow im 23 have pretty much full coverage with a 1 million dollar umbrella and i have a speeding ticket coming off after this year, and i am paying $830 every 6 mo. I live in the midwest though, dont know if that has anything to do with it. I also have good student discount, and i am also going through my dad who has used this same agent for a long long time. I pay my dad and he pays the insurance company, that saves me like $250 every 6 mo. The student discount is like $180 off every 6 mo. Compared to every one else i guess i got it good.

20, male.
2 points (had liscense revoked when I was 17... long story)
100/300 Insurance
Amica insurance. 3700/Year to take my car to school with me, as I go out of state. So she sits at home, which sucks ass.

Devman

I have good student discount which will go away next year. plus i have a performance driving/defensive driving classes. yeah states out west are much cheaper same with way up north ie maine. usually depends on the population density....higher density=higher rates.

I'm 32, married, and have a child. My insurance went up this year too! Maybe, it was because my wife plowed her Xterra into a 626. (drive) I actually have great insurance (USAA), thanks to my Dad. I have had about 10 speeding tickets the past 14 years and never had an increase up until this year. I pay 245/month with max coverage and 100 deduct on collision. That rate is for the MSP and Xterra on full coverage and the NX2000 on liability.

um i wanna cry

how did you manage that. my sister lives at fort stewart by savannah and she pays under a $1000 for a 94 volvo. granted she is 26 but thats a huge difference even if you cut yours in half for one car. I'd switch insurers if i were you.

From my experience, as a guy you're screwed until you hit 25-26. My insurance didn't go down until my 26th birthday. It's also suppossed to go down when you get married - I guess the thinking is you're less likely to drive like a maniac when you have someone else to think about.

I guess my insurance isn't too bad, as my guy doesn't skimp. I have $100k/$300k with $500 deductible. We also have a $327 discount for multiple cars and another discount for getting our homeowners through Travelers. Oh well, guess I'll just suck it up.

Oh, B-rad...your rate is probably so high because of the Jetta -- expensive parts. That's my thinking anyway...

I pay 900/year Canadian.... 500 deductible, full coverage, 1 million. You guys in the states are paying quite a bit more? (2002 P5, I'm 25 years old, male, not married)

Got to love USAA(yippy) , $1320 a year for full coverage on 2003 P5 and 2002 Isuzu Rodeo, 34( wife's 33) married w/ 2 kids, one speeding ticket for her and none for me, but she drive's 110 miles a day and I only do 10 so she can get more tickets than me. Got to admit thought that we were surprised when the insurance rate when up after getting rid of her old Integra for a station wagon. Demographically the P5 has a higher accident and claim rate. It's actually going to cost less to insure the new RX-8 I'm getting than it does for the P5.

I have a 2003.5 p5 and we pay $624 a year for full coverage at 100/300/150. I am 24 and my wife is 21, neither of us have any records. I like it cheap, and it went down over $60 this year because I went from a 1996 Nissan Altima at liability only to the P5 fully covered. Life is easier now!
