I'm sorry, I just have to reply to this one. Before I bought my MP3 I was into the whole honda JDM kick, this group were the originators of making fun of rice. I'd just like to list off a couple of rice items on the noricers.com website.
silver 7 gen civic (a fairly severe case of rice)
-altezza tails
-blue headlights
-neon undercar light kit
-headlight strobes
-blue dash lights
-blue spark plug wire cover
-blue battery tie down
-blue fuse box cover
red 6 gen civic (this is only a mild case of rice)
-maxspeed coilovers
-clear tails with red leds
mazda mp3
-front grill
-hyper white headlights
-neon undercar light kit
-5" tachometer (you can't read the one in the car?)
-boost guage (with no boost)
-CUT SPRINGS!!!
-eibach stickers with CUT racing beat springs
Rice isn't just big wings and body kits, it's anything that does not aid in and sometimes hinders the vehicles performance. Even big stereo systems are rice (I did not list these though as they can be removed before racing). Anything that leads a person to believe something which is false (ie stickers of products YOU DON'T HAVE, instrumentation for PARTS YOU DON'T HAVE, aftermarket guages FOR GUAGES YOU ALREADY HAVE). I think our cars from the start are EXTREMELY rice, it's taken me awhile to even START to get used to them. I bought the car because I could fit a car seat in the back, I could fit a stroller in the trunk, and it was fun to drive. The original car I was going to buy was a Subaru WRX, yes that's right the car so many of you make fun of that outperforms ALL of our cars on the track, the only reasons I didn't get it was the fact that it didn't have enough room for a car seat or a stroller. Before the flames start and people start getting smart and saying I could've got the wagon.....I'm only 22, there's no way in HELL I'm rockin a wagon....I'm not driving a wrx wagon OR a protege 5.

Godbless your soul. You couldn;t have put it better than that. I myself wanted the WRX. In Miami they are price gauging the freakin car though. I am not paying the 30 grand for a WRX because I simply cannot aford it. The WRX has dropped in price here but I was upside down on my old car, but was forced to sell because of an accident so my only real choice (I wanted a rally car) was the MP3. I must say I like my MP3 yes its border line rice.......to me anyway I dont like the red sway bars and crap but I think most of the car was done in good taste. But all the things you listed above are definitly ricey and your definition of rice is dead on. I am sorry if I am offending people here but Alteza lights are for Altezas!!!! All these big tachs and wings are so utterly disgusting to me. Dont people have any sense of style????? What would compell somebody to put neon under lights on there car or cut there springs or put cheap crap in your car. Our car came fairly nice from the factory....why phuck it up with ghetto rigs that hinder performance or proper operation in your car? I hate most honda guys but I must say the honda JDM crowd has taste. Simple and subtle. Are you going to walk down the street with florecent clothes and nugget gold jewelry on you......hell no thats tacky....so please dont rice up our nice cars. Anyways that my 2 cents on the matter.

Ok you want to b**** about his tach..I have a tack in mine too I use it because it is ALOT easier to race when you have a shift light and it is in a better place for viewing the tach also!Then you want to b**** about his boost guage..WHAT should he have left a big ugly hole there???I understand thats YOUR opinion BUT you should not come on here talking trash about other ppls cars or their mods.my .02cents!!!!!!!!
People are entitle to their own since of style. This is one of the aspects of life that makes it interesting. I may do things to MY car that others may not like, but I respect that. I just ask that others' sense of style be respected. Even the Riced out Yellow Civic Hatch with the cardboard body kit, and the Nos Coke bottle.......What the hell am I saying...That civic is the exception. Anyway, I like my Neons, and for those who don't, it's cool. For those who want to talk s*** about them...
