I finally did it too!!

Installed the AWR Engine brace. Had to modify one of the strut brace brackets but eventually got it in. Very tight fit. Shifting into 2nd under heavy acceleration is much better, no grinding or fighting. No vibration at idle or under load. Looking forward to the next AutoX.

Sounds good guys. Mark, just in case. I think the calipers are special order from AutoZone, call and see. is it just the weird wear on one side? I didn't check your passenger side rear.

Really? I'll have to check it out then and maybe show up. :) I'll let you know.. I'm not 100% if I can make it to be honest. I have work all that week as we're doing a huge IP cutover.

More Stuff coming

Well, ordered more stuff.

Curt Hitch for Miata PRHT. Want to use a hitch mounted bike rack, that I also ordered lol. Also want to be able to use my small trailer for things.

Still need to install the shocks and struts in my wife's car. May start on that tonite.

A miata towing a trailer??? Hmm, well only if it looks like this...

AWR Engine Brace Install

Ok, here are some pics. I have the Beatrush Brace, of you have the stock brace, the install instructions show what you need to cut.

1) The 1st one shows the area of the brace I had to cut out so I could use the strut mount portion of the AWR bracket

2) Shows the piece I removed from the Beatrush brace.

3) I had to replace 2 of the 3 nuts with larger flatter ones as the 2 braces together leave less threads from the coilovers. Luckily I had some lying around that I could use.

4) Shows how it is attached to the engine. The instructions tell you to put it underneath the existing hw but I put it on top or in front of them. I had to bend the bracket on the left bolt so it would clear the rod going to the strut tower.

These are just 2 more shots. It took longer than I would have guessed. Very tight spaces, you need to leave everything lose before tightening.

No vibration at idle or speed. Shifting seems better at load.

Installed the Curt hitch last night, 90 mins my ass!!

Fit pretty well with the mazdaspeed bumper, only had to cut a small bit and that can't be seen anyway.

Downside is you can see the hitch ends were the exhaust cutouts are located. I think this will be covered when the stock bumper cover is on.

It is a tight fit with the muffler and bumper. Seems to be well made. No clunking or banging, will try it out once i get the bike holder, should be coming this week.

I will post some pics later.

Hitch Install Pics

Ok, here are the pics from the install.

1st pic is the hitch installed. You can see the hitch ends in the exhaust cutouts. I think the stock bumper cover will cover them.

2nd is the access hole in the frame you need to enlarge in order to get the mounting hw inside to bolt the hitch to the frame.

3rd pic is the access hole cover back in place but had to use silicone to seal both sides that I had to cut to enlarge the hole.

Bike Rack

Also picked up today the hitch mounted bike rack. Pretty neat device for little money.

1st pic is the unit installed on the hitch. The arms that carry the bike can be folded down or brought quickly with a pin that is attched via a cable to the carrier

2nd is another pin that can be pulled to tilt the unit back if you need access to a hatch or trunk.

3rd is with the bike installed. Supplied straps hold the bike in place

4th is a device to create a cross bar for a womens bike so it will sit level on the carrier

5th is both bikes installed. Will road test it all next week.
