Hwy 9 Fun Run!

Looks good, Ya. Almost like stock!

Rishie is running Espiler springs IIRC.

(uhm) Kinda seems like progressive in the front and linear in the rear would just make the Protege's understeer even worse...I don't know, though. I'm just thinking out loud.
You have it reversed... they are front linear/rear progressive. That way you keep the exceptional turn-in of the car and the rear end loads up letting you get on the throttle sooner and power your way out of corners.

Most aftermarket springs are progressive all the way around. With progressive springs you lose some turn-in and you can get kind of a floaty feeling at speed.

Hmmm. Again, thinking out loud. :)

To get rid of understeer on my P5, I got a bigger rear sway bar, thus stiffening the rear end. See where I'm goin' with this?
Progressive springs will give you a nice ride over potholes and Bot dots, but they act softer than they are because they have to "load up" before you can really use them to their potential, ie diving into a corner at 90%. You'll get understeer until they load up.

...I think. (scratch)

hmmm... valid points.

Since I haven't driven with my espelir springs yet, I can't really comment on how they actually drive, just spout theories and what I have been told they would do.

This was posted in the only extensive customer review I have seen of a front linear/rear progressive set-up on the protege, this review happens to be of the Ion springs:

" Quick update:
I've now put a couple thousand more miles and two or three autox/track events on the springs. My initial comments are still valid with the following additions:

Handling bias has shifted noticeably away from the understeer I experienced in the stock condition with my driving style. I'm now able to hold the line at higher entry speeds than before and get back on the throttle sooner without pushing out.

The car is also MUCH more sensitive to throttle/brake input in the corners, which can be an advantage in the right hands...just not mine
biggrin.gif
For example, at an autox this past weekend I was in a LONG sweeper at ~85mph (we tend to have very long and fast courses around here). Preparing to enter a slightly tighter portion of the sweeper, I lifted the throttle a bit too quickly under very mild steering input and the unloaded rear instantly broke free sending me into the longest slide/spin of my life. Oh well, it was the last event for this set of Victos anyway

The drop hasn't changed much and the rear is still ever so slightly higher than the front.

The struts are still working fine...no noticeable decrease in damping.

The ride quality is a bit harsh on rough roads and I am hitting the stops over the most severe bumps (I didn't cut mine at all).

Anything else you're interested in? Let me know."

As of the 27th, 2 days after the throttle cable on my 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX broke, I canceled the insurance on the car because I didnt want to pay the exorbitant ammount that they required for this year. So the Suby is officially on the market to be sold a.s.a.p. because I am not driving it because it is not insured anymore. I guess it's not that bad of a time to be having this problem because it's DUI crackdown season and the holiday season so I dont have to worry about a thing.

I wonder how many mudslides and fallen trees there are up there. :'(
Damn this weather, the forecast isn't getting any better either. Rain for the next 10 days, with maybe a break next Tuesday last I checked :'(

Dats over twice what I pay but how bout it we'll just have to double up the rooms and then well get the monthly rent down to less than 500/person. It could be the Hwy 9 dorifto dorm
