How to: Xtec HID Conversion Kit Installation for protege5

Just an FYI to all of those wanting to do this, in most jurisdictions (Canada, the UK, and most US States) its illegal to use HID bulbs in a conventional housing because the pattern of light it creates blinds incoming drivers unless you point them too low to be useful. So you would need to retrofit projectors like this guy did:

$120 and your time is all it costs... mine.

otherwise you might get a ticket. Not sure if he is still doing it but Matt V on here used to do projector retrofits that give you a bi-xenon setup once you put your HIDs in.

would the problem with the DRL's be fixed if you were to install a relay harness with your HID's? Does the protege5 even need a relay harness?

I installed a relay harness for my DDM Slim Kit. It got rid of the flickering issues. I got a cheap kit from eBay for under $10 shipped. Good insurance if you ask me...especially since the P5 has a pretty weak electrical system.
