hiboost install problems...

i installed my hiboost fmic today. went well, took a LONG time but everything is done right. it was real cold out and i went for a spin before the front bumper was on. the car in first gear pulled harder than i have ever felt. the boost gauge only read 5 psi but it felt more like 15. then when i would shift into 2nd, at about 4500 RPMs the car just completely boggs down, like it hits a wall. at first i thought it was too violent to be fuel cut, and the boost gauge was only reading 5 psi, but now i think that may be it. my mechanic friend who did the install at first thought it was the BOV dumping pressure way too soon b/c of the added air. anybody got any ideas? i think its just fuel cut hitting, anybody experienced anything like that? all the connections are on tite everything is hooked up right, there are no boost leaks or anything.

well, there is definaetly a problem with the intercooler, take it off and send it to me!! seriously though, i dont see why a fmic would affect your fuel at all.

Make sure that all of your couplers are in the right spot. Mine did that at first too. Eventually it popped off the pipes. Go back over the couplers after the intercooler. I'm pretty sure that's what the problem is.

we went over it and checked that everything was on right. its all in the right place and really secure and the BOV is installed correctly and everything. i think since we were working on it in his driveway til 230 am that the car was still kinda cold, not to mention it was freezing out, and it hit fuel cut followed by the bogging when you let off the gas. ill take it out today when its a little warmer and we'll see how it goes. i still think its awkward hitting fuel cut at 5 psi though, or maybe my boost gauge is wrong? i'll update later. thanks.

ya, my hardpipes did that. Also makes sure that you reset the computer. Maybe it has something to do with the BOV?

well, drove it around today and it feels perfect. i guess it was just way too cold last nite. warm weather today and didnt hit any fuel cut or nothin. guess i was right, im just glad its nothing mechanical. the car pulls REAL hard still, and im only at 5 psi. im gonna turn up the boost to about 8 and we'll see how it goes then. thanks for all the replies and suggestions.

make sure you adjust that fuel accordingly! we dont want you blowing anything on us!

Congrats on the kit..Welcome to the Dark Side MWahahah

i

You will hit fuel cut when cold out with a fmic . I put mine on last year and i hit fuel cut early in the morning at 9 1/2 or 10 sucks . Iam want to get a fcd but iam still unsure of getting one. It really sucks to hit it . It jolts you pretty violetly .

you said you have a blow off valve on it?? do you have a bypass valve in the mix also? i had huge problems with my car bogging down when i put the hi-boost kit on with just the BOV. i put a bypass valve on also as have many others. it got rid of most of the problem. it still boggs every once in a while, but not nearly as bad as before. just reseting the ecu will probably not get rid of your problem. i kno it didnt get rid of mine no matter how i had the bov adjusted.

So fro mwhat I understand here, basically the ECU thinks the air is too "cold" and cuts the fuel off?
