i need to know what wga to get? ive done research up here about the ATP and the forge one but people seem to have problems with both of them. 03.5 msp mods are custom fm hks intercooler, cai, +1 colder plugs, xs high perf. boost controller at 9lbs and boost gauge. it will surge between 9lbs and 11lbs through all gears at wot. and will consistanly stay at 8lbs at wot in any static gear. not sure what the problem is. put the mbc on hoping to eliminate the problem. with the mbc unistalled surges from 4lbs to around the stock 6.5lbs. replaced all vacume lines + all plastic T's. i was gonna start with a new WGA just not sure which one is best for my application, if its the problem???

I don't know where you were reading from but I haven't heard anybody have any problems with the $60 ATP wastegate had it on my car for over 2 years. Oh and I'm pretty sure the crappy OEM wastegate from mazda costs over $200.

the problem i was reading about with the 6lb atp wga was it runs 10lbs on our cars? correct? or does it run the stock 6.5lbs or 6lbs like it says? also if the wga is bad should it be easy to blow air through it? i can blow air through mine although its not easy.

It doesn't necessarily run 10lbs (the ATP one at least). I think some people with a lot of supporting mods had it go that high. I think mine right now sits at around 8lbs(with the ATP), and I have quite a bit of mods! It's been a while since I actually have pushed the car at all. But you shouldn't be able to blow through the line at all. Oh, and the dealer one is very expensive. I would stick with the ATP or Forge. I don't know anything about the Forge one though.

i have the atp stock replacement from protege garage and no problems after one year. i tried getting one from the dealer here locally and not sure if they were lazy or dont know what the wga is but they said i would have to buy the whole turbo. this info could be wrong but i dont know of anyone that got one from the dealer. just get the atp one and call it a day.

i ordered it, should be here on the 20th. any pointers for the install? any tricks? time savers? anything would help

Good luck changing that....the turbo is so close to the engine that it makes for a very tight fit....there is a little c clip which holds the rod to the flapper on the turbo and 2 bolts hold it to the bracket. Find someone with very little hands and get some very little tools to make the job easier...while you have the WG off check that the flapper moves easily from closed to open...mine decided it was going to start working it's way out of the turbo and the flapper got stuck on the housing and i couldn't get more than 2lbs or so under WOT....

Well I can't really help you with the install cause I did mine when I had my turbo/down pipe off. I thought it was pretty easy, but doing it on the car seems like it should be a challenge.

thanks man ill remember the c clip when i do it. i gotta do my rear motor mount at some point too. thinkn i might have to make a day of it. which one is easier!? and does anybody know if that repair insurance thats all over TV is worth it. or if anybody has it already, how much is it? sorry questions are really off track.

it is a huge PITA to change. replace the c-clip too. if you reuse the one thats on there it gets stretched out and eventually falls off and then it does not boost b/c the arm comes off the flapper deal you clip it to.

i actually found some at the hardwarer store but i am sure you can get them at the parts store. not positive on the size. i would just take the new one with you. good luck.

the bottom nut on the wga took me a minute to figure out. but from under the car with an extention and a universal joint i got it out and the new one in about 25mins. car holds 9lbs perfect. now i need a afc!
