Sorry to double post i put this in the racing section too, but i never really get the responses i want in there, so i was hoping someone in here would help, here goes....

I made my first run's down the 1/4 mile today, at Englishtown Raceway Park in New Jersey. Not in my P5, but in my 69 Camaro, its got a 385, it's a pritty mild setup, but it gets the job done. My first run heres what i got

First Run (I was in the left lane)

Left Right
R/T .445 .752
60' 2.473 1.899
330 6.550 5.435
1/8 9.841 8.371
MPH 75.15 83.38
1000 12.692 10.919
1/4 15.225 13.080
MPH 89.03 104.26

My first run was up against a Lightning with slicks. My friend's said i was really on his ass down the track, the front of my car was close to the ass of his truck, i red lighted because i over staged, i launched from a idle towards the end of the track my car didn't want to shift out of 2nd gear, so i bumped it into neutral, then back into drive, and didn't get on it again.

Second Run (Right Lane)

Left Right
R/T .589 .534
60' 2.120 2.491
330 5.743 6.365
1/8 8.701 9.552
MPH 82.99 76.10
1000 11.244 12.306
1/4 13.387 14.603
MPH 105.26 98.54

The second time i was up against a mustang, it was blue with white grafics, idk what kind of stang it was though. This time i get the RPM's up a little bit at lauch, then my tires went up in smoke so i let off the gas, then got back on it, towards the end of the track, same thing, it got stuck in second, so i let off the gas, then got on it a little more and it finally shifted.

I think I can dip into 13's with a better rear, more skills, and slicks, what do you guys think from thoes numbers???

not bad at all..i had a 78' T/A that I ran down there..I had a re-inforced rear-end on it and mickey thompson slicks on the back..did a little work on the gearbox..re-inforced 4 speed and a modified clutch. Pretty much a mild set-up.. I ran 13.4's at about 103MPH..i'll dig up my sheet if you'd like..but yea..you can definetly improve..just practice with slicks and a hot temp track..

Do you think it has 13 second potential? My friend told me that my MPH was pritty high for my 60', and if I got everything working, that I will tap into 13's.

Yea, I think with the right set-up you could break 13..What do you have in this beast anyway? In terms of motor wise..I think if you find that happy medium between good slicks and accurate shifting..you could most defiently break 13 w/o any other mods..

it's got a 350 with a 400 crank bored .40 over to make it a 385, it's got vortec heads, an "RV" cam, 9:1 compression... The torque converter & rear are both i belive stock i belive, i'm going to take a look and try to figure out the rear end gears later on today, i'll also try to get some pics...

Here are the pics...

what are you doing for carbs? I ended up running demon dual 4-barrels..I would suggest you looking to either demon 4-barrels or an upgrade holley..if you want to get nasty..looking to a new intake manifold and run dualies..your motor definetly sounds solid though

I bet a manual valve body would fix your shifting problems. You will have the ability to shift gears whenever you like. Plus it will hit each gear hard. There's a lot of slip in a stock tranny for comfort level. Get that new valve body and watch your head snap back with each shift! That stock tranny seems to really hold you back at the end of the track.

What do you have for tires now and what suspension add-ons/mods do you have, both front and rear? Getting much wheel spin or hop?

Get the shifting problem fixed and you should be into the 13's if not awefully close.

Yea, I ended up doing a 4-floor conversion to a 3 speed glide..much nicer for the track..get your shifting times down by alot..hell..shifting times sometimes can greatly effect your numbers..throw that in with wheel spin..you could definetly break another .7-.8 off your E/T

As for the carb, i had a holley 750 DP on there origanally, but that was dumping too much gas. so now i have a holley 670 street avenger, it seems to be working well... As for my suspension, it's pritty much all stock, the tires are BF Goodrich radials, so thats why i had so much tire spin. thanks for all the ideas, i was really thinking about the manual valve body too, but it's more of a street car, but i want to get it into the 13's. SpicyMchaggis, your T/A sounds pritty cool, u have any pics?

well for starters take a leaf or two out of the rear end spring packs to soften the launch and get better weight transfer. try playing with the tire pressures a little, if you getting wheel spin at launch with the pressure you're try dropping 5-10 psi, just try and stay above 20 or so. the main thing to eliminate tire spin on dot's is to transfer as much weight over the rear wheels as quickly as possibly, hence the soft rear setup. two..try a b&m quickshifter and manually shift your auto, it sounds like you either have a dirty modulator valve or you need to upgrade the stock torque converter to a lock-up converter. with the b&m you can just slap it and it won't go into netural cause of the lock out feature.

oh yeah i also only have an open end rear, i dont even know what gears as of yet. I plan on going back saturday, because they are having Camaro/Firebird vs Ford/Mustang so I will try to use some of your tips 20ESGUY.

you dont know your gearing? oh im assuming its stock? DEFINETLY look into new gearing.. The T/A ran at 355 gears..that should be about the same for yours..although i did run it at 377 a few times..yea..try the suspsenion tweak out..should help your launch out alot...its a shame i sold the T/A back in august.. bills pile up and sometimes you have to cut some hobbys loose..
