I was wondering if anyone has Cat-back exhaust, im looking to buy headers and catback in the nex week or so. Any suggestions on what to get would help, and pictures of exhaust would also help.

Thanks

OBX 4-1 header + Racing Beat (or Magnaflow) catback = can't loose.

racing beat FTW

btw top link is a video

if you can find a 4-2-1 header, it'll give you better mid-range power...a 4-1 is more top-end...AWR made one, i've seen a couple for sale recently...as far as cat-backs, the racing beat is great...and if you can run cat-less, grab a mid-pipe from protegegarage.

it really does unless you get on it. almost no drone on the freeway, but it has a really really nice tone past 4 rpms. nice and deep.

yea im not gonna lie, that is a nice touch. the p5 still keeps its class. my car does sound sick, but a little too loud at times. like when im getting pulled over, lol.

Im not only looking for it to sound good, Im looking to make the most horsepower possible. Would it be better to have a custom catback built?

well if you make a custom 2.5 inch catback with the least amount of bends, then yea that would give you the best gain prob., but its up to you on what you wanna do. i thought the megan had the best gain? i could be wrong though

I got A 3 inch all the way back with a 3" magnaflow cat and a N1 muffler and it is load as crap. I also got the OBX 4-1 header and have had nothing but problems. Check out the web address I will attach below so you can see all the great problems. the exhaust opened her up all the way. I recomend custom all the way. Anyone else that had a problem with this header please let me know. OBX swears i am the only one but i have heard of others.

^^Nope. My OBX has been trouble free for about a year and 10,000+ miles.

And from looking at your pictures- I swear my o2 bung is on the opposite side (passenger side) of the header. And the stainless steel on my header still looks good. Maybe you got a header from an older, crappier batch of headers.

yea my obx header snapped where the 4 pipes meet into one also. it was a loud ride home, lol.

Do/did either of you guys also have a different front motor mount at the time of failure? I put the AWR mount in soon after due to the lack of stabilizing bracket that the manifold had.

my springs between the midpipe and the header were ****** up and they were compressed all the way in, therefore not absorbing any of the shock and breaking my header. now i have front motor mount, engine damper, and side inserts, so it wont happen again.

Having a 3" pipe and muffler does not equal to more horsepower unless your engine is actualy creating that horsepower (like if you have a crazy turbo and pushing a mass amount of boost). And also as one said, if you had the stock engine mounts any aftermarket mufler will crack.

To the guy who started this thread, get after market engine mounts first!

True that...cheaper ways around full mounts are inserts, or filling them yourself...there's a HowTo somewhere on it, and it's totally worth it.

You really don't need any piping larger than 2 1/4 if you're staying naturally aspirated. The car just won't use that much air. But definately go for the 4-2-1 header and a custom bent cat back exhaust with a straight-thru muffler.

I just bought the JIC full titanium cat-back exhaust, would i still need the engine mounts for just the cat-back???

No, but depending on how big it is, you might want to look into some exhaust hangers. you'll only need them if you hear your exhaust banging on the undercarriage of the car. Otherwise you won't need them. If you do, Corksport has a blue version of the Kartboy hangers for 32$
