dont forget brian, each place is gonna have different numbers. it's not an exact test performed same through each shop the same way. thats why you need t get before and after numbers from the same placeBrian MP5T said:

OKay he finally got to flowing it yesterday so I went up today to pick it up. Gains on the intake side were minimal but there was virtually no loss so I guess I'm not too dissapointed. The exhaust side I am very pleased with, very little loss down low and a decent in the mid-high lift range.
Here's the before and after flows, he did each valve individually.

yeah good that your exhaust side was increased a bit.
dont forget to compare numbers with how much lift you're using too. 0.475 numbers wont mean squat unless you're opening up that much

valve lift is around 0.320" for the intake 0.310" for the exhaust (i think, cant remember)

So I gained alittle. He was betting I was gonna lose 5cfm down low so I guess I didn't do too bad.

Well after 5 weeks being at Applied Flow, I can finally go and get it tommorow. I shoulda gone down to MpNick and had this stuff done because I'm sure it woulda been done faster and cheaper with comparable results. Alot more work than orginally planned was done.
The valves were back-cut and swirl polished.
The valve job is done with apparently trick angles and incorporating the de-shrouding of the valves in the combustion chamber. He also made it work for the port work I had doen in which I cut alittle too much out of the short turn radius. He went into some technical lingo and was very excited about the valve job and the cnc machine he used. (Did I tell you this is all he does is cylinder heads and other machine work? Many Sprint cars and Busch series engine builders use this guys cylinder heads.)
He set-up each valve and lifter with the cam to determine what would need to be cut down so that the valve lash was perfect. Which saves me a TON of time because now I don't have to set-up and measure the valve lash then order the shims etc.
The combustion chambers were slightly re-worked to help promote better combustion eff.
Finally the head was re-surfaced to a glass like finish to ensure perfect sealing of the h.g.
I'm not gonna go into details on how much this cost me, but I will say if I had another stock MSP, I would be around 13.7's again.....

OHH and I forgot the coolest part. After he did all the work it went back on the flow bench where he was happy to report that I now had a Cyl. head that now flowed at/over 200cfm on the intake and alittle over 188cfm on the exhaust.
I'm not sure how his flowbench compared to the one it was tested on before but he assured me I gained more on the valvejob than I did with my porting.

To be honest I didn't pay the extra money to get it documented when flowed. I didn't even know he did it, but I guess he always flows after he starts the valve job to ensure he is on the right track. Then he makes adjustments if needed.
If I wasn't so anxious to get this thing together I would bring it back up to where I had it flowed originally, but I really am getting tired of the Rx-7.
