GI : Brake cooling ducting

progress. we have the idea's on paper on what we want to achieve, it's just a matter of getting the time to get under the car and do some real measurements. we've put aside thursday next week (i think) to really get into it.

in terms of shipping, we would have to work out something there, but i know the owner of the local post office quite well so we might get some good deal. also, shipping from oz to america is 2/3 the price of america to oz. work that out!

Twilight-
Will the ducts be injection molded or what will the process be on it? Also, what materials are you thinking of? Just curious as to how you will be going about this all. Will it grab air off of the bottom of the front bumper and duct it to the back side of the rotors? If so it would be nice to make the appearance from the front similiar to a lip on each side. Anyhow....

at the moment we're looking at making them in fibreglass with a view to something a little more user friendly down the track.

and yes, it will grab the air from below the bumperbar, but it wont scoop up air as that may cause problems for anyone lowered (aka all of us). but we'll make it work well. the wheel area is a low pressure area so getting air into there shouldnt be hard

so if these are fiberglass are they going to be one off's or will they be mass produced? sorry for all of the questions, just curious.

still not 100% sure. there appears to be quite a large initial interest in this, so we may very well go further than just fibreglass. we still have a fair bit of the nitty gritty to work out. we dont want to rush the product without extensive testing - including track work and doing a with and without ducting temperature test

subscribing, i just saw tis in your sig and i am interested if it can work for the msp, sure it probably can, keep updating.

I AM SUB-TO-THE-SCRIBING!!! This sounds like another great part Twilight! I am definately interested. Keep us (me as well) updated. Im glad I held off on buying that undertray insert that Corksport offers on their site. From what I have gathered so far, this product is going to look great and be twice as benefitial as the Corksport one. Plus hopefully, a great deal cheaper too! Keep up the good work!

yes this certainly will be a lot more functional than the corksport one

Not sure if it was asked already, but is it safe to assume this won't be model/year specific?

this will be designed for the protege5 front bar, so will fit any car which has the bumper, just not 100% sure about the msp.

we will however test it on a regular bar to be sure if it does or doesnt fit it.

I hope it can go on the MSP, I have been looking forward to this, let us know.

i've seen nothing like what i'm thinking appart from on racecars, but still that's not hugely similar.

our biggest problem is that we are fwd and there is little to no room to aim a brake duct, but i'll work it out.

I've upgraded my brakes to the KVR / iON kit, and they still need more adeuate cooling. I've tried making a kit like this for myself, but you run into the washer fluid bottle on the passenger side, and not to mention the frame cause the ducts have to come to the inside of the brakes.
