to those with gauges. i installed my boost/volt/oil press. gauges today. look great, all working properly, accurate boost/vac reading etc. however i am getting the evermost slightest buzzing, humming noise coming from the gauges. is this normal? Is it the volt gauge maybe? when i turn the lights off the noise goes away, thanks in advance.

I've had the same thing happen twice. both using autometer gauges. The first one was a sport comp gauge, which after awhile started reading 5 psi lower than what its supposed to. And it had a rattling sound, much like loose change sound. So I bought a C2 boost gauge, it works fine, reads boost correctly, but still has a ringing sound when I step on the gas.

The only thing I could think that it would be is that small ferrul piece that goes inbetween the vacuum line and the connector on the boost gauge. Maybe i didn't tighten the connection all the way or something.

Hope you figure it out, its driving me nuts too.

nah, its not the boost gauge, by itself at least. if its going to be a single one, its going to be either the oil press or the volt. because the car is off and not reading any boost and it does it when the lights are on. when i turn the lights off the noise goes away. to those with gauges, take a second next time with your car off and leave your lights on, see if it makes a slight noise, maybe you havent noticed it either

as long as i dont smell anything burning or any of my switches get messed up, i dont care. really its no big deal, i can barely hear it, it was just a really quiet night and i heard it. i was just curious to see if anyone else has.

Are they electroluminescent gauges (like indiglo backlit style)? The inverters on those will make a slight buzzing sound much like you described, and that would explain why the sound is only heard when the lights are on.

correctomundo! they are the lunar series autometer ones. light up green, so i guess that must be it, thanks!

Yeah, probably the inverter, mount it somewhere lower, and away from you and you'll hear it less.

I have the speed, oil, water, volt, tach, fuel level ,and fuel pressure and all of them make some noise since I put in the led's instead of bulbs
