fun cheap mods! long post

So you are saying 160F is higher temp than stock? I was interested in getting a lower thermostat a while ago, and asked some people what stock temp was, but I couldn't get a straight answer from anyone.

The reason I ask is that I have heard of a lower temp mazdaspeed thermostat, but not sure if that is the one used in the MSP

Also, someone mentioned in another thread that the thermostats in our cars are special, and that a generic one form an auto parts store would not fit or something. Anyone know about this?

Zounds, old post got dug up!

Got my thermostat at O'Reiley's for like $4. It's generic and it fits. I think the original gasket had to go on the new t-stat, but it's been a while... I took out the old one, took it to the store, and matched it. Same one fits in my 2000 Dakota. There's nothing special or new under the sun about thermostats....

Someone worried about greasing the poly bushings: No squeaking here! Not an issue.

The springs really settled in pretty far, the rear tires look tucked a bit, looks sharp. The stock shocks are about blown, Blues are going on soon. The stockers don't like higher spring rates, apparently.

Last mod was a $2.39 battery cable from Wally World, grounded the engine to the frame, man what a difference in quality and volume from the sub, and no more noise! No stinkin' $30+ "ground kits" for me, waste of money unless you like the looks.

Someone on here already claims to be king o the cheap mods, but I like to think I get (second)
Cheers
